Prequel is a remote-first online school designed for authentic growth, not compliance. We're rethinking how students learn so they advance more quickly, find joy in the journey, and graduate with confidence that can be tracked.

In most weeks, you'll facilitate high-impact intervention sessions. During the rest, you'll conduct brief motivation check-ins that keep students focused and reaching milestones. This position is a strong fit for those who value autonomy, rapid feedback cycles, and measurable results. It's not suited to anyone seeking a rigid script or uncomfortable with data-driven decision-making.

What you will be doing

  • Plan and facilitate virtual small-group and individual reading intervention sessions for students in grades 3–8
  • Leverage reading assessment data to identify fluency and comprehension deficits and modify instruction in real time
  • Adapt activities for diverse reading levels, including accommodations for dyslexia and associated reading challenges
  • Monitor progress systematically and consistently, using the findings to inform upcoming sessions
  • Facilitate structured motivation check-ins that foster confidence, determination, and pride in measurable growth

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver large, whole-class lessons or present material from a rigid curriculum
  • Execute a pre-scripted program without responding to student needs and live feedback
  • Function as a passive "software supervisor" without delivering meaningful instruction and building rapport
  • Depend on superficial incentives that fail to cultivate enduring motivation

Key responsibilities

Take ownership of outcomes for grades 3–8—quantifiable improvements in fluency and comprehension—by providing tailored virtual interventions and motivational guidance that fosters confidence.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a closely related field
  • Reading intervention certification or endorsement (e.g., Arizona Reading Specialist K-12 or equivalent state certification)
  • Specialized training or certification in dyslexia intervention (or related structured literacy approaches)
  • At least 2 years of experience delivering small-group or one-on-one reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
  • Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
  • Ability to interpret progress monitoring data and use it to plan and adjust instruction
  • Strong ability to engage and manage students in a virtual setting through clear, motivating communication
  • Full-time availability during U.S. business hours (Monday–Friday; 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. PT)
