Reading Interventionist   $60,000 USD/year

Description

You recognize the shift. The instant a learner stops guessing at words and begins reading with intention. They meet your eyes and say, "I've got this." If that's the kind of work you're looking for every day, this position will feel right.

Unbound is a remote-first online school designed around genuine progress, not hours logged. We're rebuilding the way students learn so they advance more quickly, find joy in the work, and graduate with measurable confidence.

In most weeks, you'll deliver high-impact intervention sessions. In others, you'll facilitate brief motivation touchpoints that keep learners focused and reaching their goals. This role fits those who value independence, immediate feedback, and visible results. It's not suited for anyone seeking a rigid playbook or who hesitates when working with data.

If you're ready to help readers who struggle make real progress—and you value the latitude to customize your methods for each learner—let's connect.

What you will be doing

  • Plan and conduct virtual small-group and individual reading intervention sessions for learners in grades 3–8
  • Apply reading assessment data to identify fluency and comprehension needs and modify instruction promptly
  • Adapt activities for varied reading levels, including accommodations for dyslexia and similar reading challenges
  • Monitor progress systematically and use findings to inform upcoming sessions
  • Facilitate structured motivation touchpoints that foster confidence, resilience, and pride in development

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver large, full-class lessons or present from a static curriculum
  • Execute a scripted program without responding to learner needs and live feedback
  • Serve as a passive "software supervisor" without substantive teaching and relationship-building
  • Depend on superficial incentives that fail to cultivate enduring motivation

Key responsibilities

Take ownership of outcomes for grades 3–8—quantifiable improvements in fluency and comprehension—by providing tailored virtual interventions and motivation support that cultivates confidence.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a closely related field
  • Reading intervention certification or endorsement (e.g., Arizona Reading Specialist K-12 or equivalent state certification)
  • Specialized training or certification in dyslexia intervention (or related structured literacy approaches)
  • At least 2 years of experience delivering small-group or one-on-one reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
  • Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
  • Ability to interpret progress monitoring data and use it to plan and adjust instruction
  • Strong ability to engage and manage students in a virtual setting through clear, motivating communication
  • Available to work in a hybrid capacity in Arizona as needed.
