Literacy Interventionist   $60,000 USD/year

Description

You recognize the shift. The instant a student moves from guessing words to reading with intention. They glance up and realize, "I can actually do this." If that's the work you want to pursue daily, this is where you belong.

Unbound is a remote-first online school designed for measurable progress, not attendance hours. We're restructuring how students develop skills so they advance more quickly, engage with the material, and graduate with demonstrable confidence.

In most weeks, you'll deliver focused intervention sessions. During the rest, you'll facilitate brief motivation touchpoints that keep students aligned and reaching benchmarks. This position fits individuals who value independence, rapid feedback cycles, and visible results. It's not suited for anyone seeking a rigid lesson plan or avoiding data-driven decisions.

If you're ready to help struggling readers achieve substantial improvement—and you want the flexibility to customize your methods for each learner—we'd be interested in speaking with you.

What you will be doing

  • Create and conduct virtual small-group and individual reading intervention sessions for students in grades 3–8
  • Apply reading assessment data to identify fluency and comprehension deficits and modify instruction rapidly
  • Adapt learning activities across diverse reading levels, including accommodations for dyslexia and associated reading challenges
  • Monitor progress using clear, consistent methods and leverage the data to inform subsequent sessions
  • Facilitate structured motivation touchpoints that cultivate confidence, persistence, and pride in development

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver large, whole-class instruction or present material from a static curriculum
  • Execute a pre-written program without adjusting to student realities and immediate feedback
  • Serve as a passive "software supervisor" without substantive teaching and personal connection
  • Depend on superficial incentives that fail to foster enduring motivation

Key responsibilities

Take ownership of outcomes for grades 3–8—quantifiable improvements in fluency and comprehension—through personalized virtual interventions and motivation support that strengthens confidence.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a closely related field
  • Reading intervention certification or endorsement (e.g., Arizona Reading Specialist K-12 or equivalent state certification)
  • Specialized training or certification in dyslexia intervention (or related structured literacy approaches)
  • At least 2 years of experience delivering small-group or one-on-one reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
  • Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
  • Ability to interpret progress monitoring data and use it to plan and adjust instruction
  • Strong ability to engage and manage students in a virtual setting through clear, motivating communication
  • Available to work in a hybrid capacity in Arizona as needed.
