Performance Coach   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site position in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • Annual salary of 150,000 USD, paid on a weekly basis

If conventional schooling no longer challenges you and you refuse to compromise standards to avoid conflict, this opportunity will stand apart. You will guide children and adults toward ambitious results using objective data and explicit benchmarks—not lectures or traditional lesson plans.

Alpha School is developing an AI-enhanced educational model in which students complete core academics in only two hours each day, dedicating their afternoons to developing practical life skills. Our commitment is straightforward and rigorous: students enjoy school, accelerate learning by 2× compared to peers, and acquire essential life competencies. This position ensures that commitment becomes reality for every K–8 student at our Dorado location.

You will remain actively engaged. You will deliver one-hour life skills workshops, facilitate structured motivation sessions that advance students through academic applications, and provide Guides with direct, actionable coaching. This is neither a conventional teaching position nor a detached leadership role. You will be held accountable for measurable outcomes, adherence to established playbooks, and maintaining rigorous standards.

If you are prepared to lead by example and establish a campus culture where achievement is earned through effort, submit your application and demonstrate how you uphold excellence without making excuses.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver one-hour life skills workshops for K–8 students by preparing materials and executing activities precisely according to playbooks
  • Conduct structured motivation sessions designed to drive student progress in academic apps and achievement of defined goals
  • Monitor Guides during sessions and provide standards-based coaching featuring specific improvement actions and accountability for follow-through
  • Apply objective, data-informed judgment to maintain mastery standards, even in challenging circumstances
  • Work closely with campus staff on a daily basis to ensure consistent fulfillment of Alpha's 3 Promises

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver or tutor academic content using traditional classroom instruction methods
  • Develop lesson plans or create new curriculum materials
  • Deviate from established playbooks or improvise workshop content
  • Compromise mastery standards or adjust goals downward to create the appearance of "success"
  • Manage from behind a desk through administrative tasks while others engage directly with students

Key responsibilities

Ensure that every K–8 student at Alpha's Dorado campus reliably experiences Alpha's 3 Promises: they love school, learn 2× faster, and build life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Authorized to work in Puerto Rico
  • Available to work full-time on-site at the Dorado, Puerto Rico campus

  • Experience working with children ages 5–14 in coaching, motivation, or youth development contexts
  • Experience coaching or managing adult performance using clear standards and accountability frameworks
  • Strong verbal communication skills tailored to K–8 audiences
  • Data-driven decision-making capability (leveraging metrics and analytics to establish direction and maintain standards)
  • High-standards mindset with confidence delivering direct feedback and sustaining goals without compromise
