Program Director   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • Based on-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • $150,000 annual salary, disbursed weekly

If you have moved beyond traditional education systems and refuse to compromise high expectations to avoid conflict, this opportunity will be distinct. You will guide students and adults toward ambitious goals using objective metrics and defined benchmarks—not conventional lectures or curriculum plans.

Alpha School is developing an AI-driven educational model in which students complete core academics in only two hours per day, dedicating their afternoons to developing practical life competencies. Our commitment is straightforward and rigorous: students enjoy school, progress at twice the rate of their peers, and acquire real-world skills. This position ensures that commitment becomes reality for every K–8 student at our Dorado location.

You will remain actively engaged. You will facilitate one-hour life skills sessions, conduct structured motivational meetings that advance student progress in learning applications, and provide Guides with direct coaching through specific, actionable feedback. This is neither a conventional teaching position nor a passive administrative role. You will be held accountable for measurable results, adherence to established protocols, and maintaining rigorous standards.

If you are prepared to lead by example and establish a campus environment where achievement is the product of effort, submit your application and demonstrate how you uphold excellence without compromise.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver one-hour life skills sessions for K–8 students by preparing and executing activities precisely according to established playbooks
  • Conduct structured motivational sessions designed to drive student advancement in academic applications and goal achievement
  • Monitor Guide performance in real-time and provide standards-based coaching that includes specific improvement actions and accountability for follow-up
  • Apply objective, metrics-based judgment to maintain mastery standards, even in challenging situations
  • Work closely with on-campus staff daily to ensure consistent fulfillment of Alpha's 3 Promises

What you will NOT be doing

  • Provide traditional classroom instruction or academic tutoring
  • Develop lesson plans or create new curriculum
  • Deviate from established playbooks or improvise workshop content
  • Compromise mastery benchmarks or adjust goals downward to create the appearance of success
  • Manage from behind a desk through administrative tasks while others engage directly with students

Key responsibilities

Ensure that every K–8 student at Alpha's Dorado campus reliably experiences Alpha's 3 Promises: they enjoy school, achieve learning outcomes at 2× the standard rate, and develop essential life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in Puerto Rico
  • Capacity to work full-time on-site at the Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience guiding individuals toward ambitious performance outcomes
  • Background working with children ages 5–14 in coaching, motivational, or youth development contexts
  • Proven experience coaching or managing adult performance using explicit standards and accountability mechanisms
  • Effective verbal communication skills tailored to K–8 age groups
  • Capability in data-driven decision-making (leveraging metrics and analytics to establish direction and maintain standards)
  • High-standards orientation with confidence in delivering direct feedback and sustaining goals without concessions
