Description

  • Based onsite in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • $150,000 annual compensation, distributed weekly

This role is designed for professionals who have moved beyond conventional education models and who maintain rigorous standards even when doing so creates friction. You will guide children and adults toward demanding goals through data-informed methods and explicit benchmarks—not through traditional lectures or curriculum design.

Alpha School operates an AI-enabled framework in which students complete foundational academics in two hours daily, dedicating their afternoons to developing practical life competencies. Our commitment is direct and uncompromising: students genuinely enjoy school, achieve mastery at twice the rate of their peers, and acquire practical capabilities. Your mission is to ensure this commitment becomes reality for every K–8 learner at our Dorado location.

This position is deeply operational. You will deliver one-hour life skills sessions, facilitate structured motivation activities that accelerate student progress in learning applications, and provide Guides with targeted coaching anchored in specific improvement steps. This is neither conventional teaching nor detached oversight. You will own outcomes, uphold process fidelity, and sustain exacting standards.

If you lead by example and are prepared to cultivate a campus environment where excellence is earned through performance, submit your application and demonstrate how you sustain high expectations without exception.

What you will be doing

  • Lead one-hour life skills sessions for K–8 learners by preparing materials and executing activities precisely according to established playbooks
  • Conduct structured motivation sessions designed to accelerate student achievement in academic applications and goal attainment
  • Observe Guide performance in real time and provide standards-anchored coaching accompanied by actionable improvement directives and accountability
  • Apply objective, metrics-based judgment to maintain mastery thresholds, even in situations requiring difficult conversations
  • Coordinate daily operations with campus personnel to ensure reliable execution of Alpha's 3 Promises

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver or tutor academic subjects using traditional classroom instruction methods
  • Develop lesson plans or design original curriculum materials
  • Deviate from prescribed workshop protocols or modify established playbooks on the fly
  • Compromise mastery benchmarks or adjust targets downward to create the appearance of progress
  • Manage remotely through administrative tasks while delegating direct student interaction to others

Key responsibilities

Ensure that each K–8 student attending Alpha's Dorado campus reliably experiences Alpha's 3 Promises: genuine enjoyment of school, learning at 2× the typical pace, and acquisition of meaningful life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in Puerto Rico
  • Availability to work full-time onsite at the Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of experience coaching individuals or teams to demanding performance outcomes
  • Direct experience working with children aged 5–14 in coaching, motivation, or youth development contexts
  • Proven track record coaching or managing adult performance using explicit standards and accountability structures
  • Effective verbal communication skills tailored to K–8 learners
  • Demonstrated ability to make data-informed decisions, leveraging metrics and analytics to guide strategy and enforce standards
  • Commitment to high performance standards with the confidence to deliver candid feedback and sustain goals without dilution
