Elite Coach   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • $150,000 annual salary, paid weekly

If you have outgrown conventional schooling and refuse to compromise excellence for comfort, this position will be a departure. You will guide students and adults toward challenging goals using metrics and explicit benchmarks—not traditional instruction or curriculum documents.

Alpha School is constructing an AI-enabled framework in which students complete core academics in two hours daily, then dedicate afternoons to developing practical life competencies. Our commitment is straightforward and rigorous: students enjoy school, learn at twice the rate of their peers, and acquire life skills. This position ensures that commitment becomes reality for every K–8 learner at our Dorado location.

You will remain operationally engaged. You will deliver one-hour life skills sessions, facilitate structured goal-setting meetings that propel students through academic applications, and provide Guides with evidence-based coaching and actionable next steps. This is neither a conventional educator role nor a detached management position. You will own outcomes, adherence to operating protocols, and uncompromising expectations.

If you prefer to lead by example and establish a campus environment where excellence is earned rather than assumed, submit your application and demonstrate how you sustain rigorous standards without justification.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver one-hour life skills sessions for K–8 learners by preparing and executing activities precisely according to playbooks
  • Conduct structured goal-setting meetings that drive students to progress in academic applications and reach targets
  • Observe Guides during instruction and provide standards-aligned coaching with actionable improvement steps and accountability
  • Apply objective, metrics-informed judgment to maintain mastery thresholds, even when challenging
  • Work daily alongside campus personnel to guarantee consistent execution of Alpha's 3 Promises

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver or tutor academic subjects in a conventional classroom structure
  • Create lesson plans or develop instructional materials
  • Ad-lib sessions or deviate from documented playbooks
  • Dilute mastery benchmarks or adjust targets to create artificial achievement
  • Manage remotely through administrative tasks while others execute direct student work

Key responsibilities

Ensure that each K–8 student at Alpha's Dorado campus reliably experiences Alpha's 3 Promises: they enjoy school, learn at 2× the rate, and develop life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Work authorization for Puerto Rico
  • Capacity to work full-time on-site at the Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience guiding individuals to challenging outcomes
  • Experience engaging with children ages 5–14 in a coaching, motivational, or youth development capacity
  • Experience coaching or directing adult performance using explicit standards and accountability mechanisms
  • Effective verbal communication abilities for K–8 populations
  • Data-informed decision-making capability (leveraging metrics/analytics to establish direction and enforce standards)
  • High-expectations orientation with comfort providing direct feedback and maintaining goals without compromise
