You have accomplished difficult things. You have operated under genuine standards. You understand the distinction between effort and execution. If you are ready to apply that discipline in a setting that reshapes a student's path, this position is designed for you.

Alpha School leverages AI-driven 1:1 instruction, enabling students to complete core academics in roughly two hours per day. The remaining time is dedicated to life skills, meaningful projects, and personal development. At our most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor capable of establishing expectations, maintaining presence, and guiding them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.

This is not a conventional teaching position. You will not deliver lectures, assign grades, or develop curriculum. You will coach. You will facilitate demanding life-skills workshops. You will analyze data to identify what limits a student's progress, then guide them with precision and accountability until they execute.

If you carry an elite credential and a history of elevating others' performance, we are interested in speaking with you. Apply to help create a campus environment where students arrive prepared, develop tangible capabilities, and surpass challenging objectives.

What you will be doing

  • Conduct 1:1 and small-group coaching that converts student objectives into reliable execution and quantifiable outcomes
  • Leverage analytics and student aspirations to identify obstacles and design personalized, high-expectation motivation strategies
  • Facilitate high-rigor life-skills workshops through authentic storytelling, structured reflection, and practical application, followed by mastery assessment
  • Facilitate daily opening sessions that establish culture, uphold rigorous standards, and focus students before work begins
  • Build credible mentor relationships with students and families grounded in high expectations, reliability, and mature judgment

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teach courses, deliver lectures, or provide traditional academic tutoring
  • Develop curriculum, write lesson plans, or evaluate student assignments
  • Supervise staff, oversee campus operations, or assume administrative leadership duties
  • Compromise standards to secure immediate compliance or superficial gains

Key responsibilities

Ensure students at Alpha's most rigorous campuses maintain strong motivation and demonstrate continuous growth and life-skill proficiency through elite, standards-driven coaching.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • At least one distinct elite marker (athletics, academics, professional achievement, or elite-level coaching)
  • Demonstrated experience in client-facing mentoring, coaching, or leadership that produced measurable performance improvement in others
  • Confidence working in high-accountability settings with explicit standards and consistent follow-through
  • Capability to facilitate compelling, high-rigor group workshops and deliver individual coaching with sound judgment
  • Readiness to work full-time on-site at an Alpha campus: San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; or New York City, NY
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Nice to have

  • Proficiency leveraging data and analytics to inform coaching strategies and enforce accountability
  • History in competitive firms, high-growth startups, or elite athletics environments with rigorous performance standards
