Description

  • On-site position in San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; or New York City, NY
  • $150,000 annual salary paid weekly. Health benefits begin on day one

You have accomplished difficult goals. You have operated within rigorous standards. You understand the gap between effort and results. If you are ready to apply that discipline where it reshapes a student's future, this position is designed for you.

Alpha School leverages AI-driven 1:1 instruction so students complete core academic work in approximately two hours daily. This structure opens the remainder of the day for life skills training, self-directed projects, and meaningful development. At our most demanding campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible coach who can assess group dynamics, establish expectations, and guide them past procrastination, distraction, and limiting beliefs.

This is not conventional teaching. You will not deliver lectures, assign grades, or develop curriculum. You will coach. You will facilitate structured life-skills sessions. You will interpret performance data to identify obstacles, then apply pressure with precision and empathy until students execute.

If you hold a distinguishing credential and have a history of elevating others' outcomes, we want to speak with you. Apply to shape a campus environment where students arrive prepared, develop tangible competencies, and surpass challenging benchmarks.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitate 1:1 and small-group coaching that transforms student objectives into reliable execution and trackable outcomes
  • Leverage analytics and individual goals to identify barriers and design tailored, high-expectation motivation strategies
  • Lead structured life-skills workshops using authentic storytelling, guided reflection, and practical application, followed by mastery assessment
  • Conduct daily opening sessions that establish culture, communicate high standards, and prepare students before work begins
  • Build trusted advisory relationships with students and families through unwavering standards, reliability, and thoughtful decision-making

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver traditional classroom instruction, lectures, or academic tutoring
  • Develop curriculum, write lesson plans, or evaluate student assignments
  • Supervise staff, oversee campus operations, or assume broader administrative duties
  • Compromise standards for short-term behavioral compliance or superficial progress

Key responsibilities

Ensure students at Alpha's most rigorous campuses maintain strong motivation and demonstrate continuous growth and life-skill proficiency through elite, high-accountability coaching.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • At least one verifiable elite marker (athletics, academics, professional achievement, or elite-level coaching)
  • Demonstrated experience in client-facing mentoring, coaching, or leadership that produced measurable performance improvements in others
  • Ability to thrive in high-accountability settings with explicit standards and consistent follow-through
  • Capability to facilitate compelling, high-rigor group workshops and provide individual coaching with sound judgment
  • Commitment to full-time, in-person work at an Alpha campus: San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; or New York City, NY
  • Authorization to work legally in the United States

Nice to have

  • Track record using data and analytics to inform coaching strategies and accountability frameworks
  • Experience in competitive firms, high-growth startups, or elite athletic programs with demanding performance cultures
