You have accomplished difficult things. You have operated within real standards. You understand the distinction between attempting something and delivering results. If you are ready to apply that capability to work that shifts a young person's path forward, this position is designed for you.

Alpha School leverages AI-powered 1:1 learning, enabling students to complete core academics in approximately two hours per day. The remaining time is dedicated to life skills, passion-driven projects, and meaningful development. At our most demanding campuses, students require more than oversight. They require a credible mentor who can assess the environment, establish expectations, and guide them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.

This is not a conventional teaching position. You will not deliver lectures, assign grades, or develop curriculum. You will coach. You will facilitate structured life-skills workshops. You will interpret data to identify what is blocking a student's progress, then apply focused support and clarity until they execute.

If you hold an elite credential and have a proven history of improving others' performance, we want to connect with you. Apply to contribute to a campus environment where students arrive prepared, develop tangible skills, and surpass challenging goals.

What you will be doing

  • Conduct 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions that translate student goals into reliable execution and trackable progress
  • Leverage analytics and student objectives to identify obstacles and establish ambitious, personalized motivation strategies
  • Facilitate structured life-skills workshops through authentic storytelling, guided reflection, and practical application, then evaluate mastery
  • Guide daily opening sessions that establish culture, uphold high expectations, and prepare students before work begins
  • Build credible mentor relationships with students and families through elevated standards, reliability, and thoughtful judgment

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teach courses, deliver lectures, or provide tutoring in a traditional instructor capacity
  • Develop curriculum, prepare lesson plans, or evaluate student assignments
  • Supervise adults, oversee campus operations, or assume administrative leadership responsibilities
  • Reduce standards to achieve short-term compliance or superficial progress

Key responsibilities

Ensure students at Alpha's most demanding campuses maintain high motivation and demonstrate sustained growth and life-skill mastery through elite, high-standards coaching.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • At least one distinct elite marker (athletics, academics, career achievement, or elite coaching)
  • Proven experience in people-facing mentoring, coaching, or leadership that demonstrably elevated others' performance
  • Comfort working in high-accountability settings with defined standards and consistent follow-through
  • Capability to facilitate engaging, high-rigor group sessions and coach individuals with solid judgment
  • Willingness to work full-time on-site at an Alpha campus: San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; or New York City, NY
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice to have

  • Experience applying data and analytics to inform coaching strategies and accountability frameworks
  • Background in competitive firms, high-growth startups, or elite athletics programs with rigorous performance standards
