Director de Desarrollo Estudiantil   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • Based on-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • $150,000 annual salary, distributed weekly

If conventional schooling no longer challenges you and you refuse to compromise high standards for comfort, this opportunity will stand apart. You will mentor students and staff toward demanding goals, relying on evidence and explicit benchmarks—not traditional instruction or curriculum design.

Alpha School is pioneering an AI-enabled framework in which students complete rigorous academics in two hours daily, then devote afternoons to cultivating practical life competencies. Our commitment is both straightforward and exacting: students enjoy school, progress at twice the rate of their peers, and develop essential life skills. This position ensures that commitment becomes reality for every K–8 learner at our Dorado location.

You will remain actively engaged. You will deliver one-hour life skills sessions, facilitate structured goal-oriented sessions that propel students through academic platforms, and provide Guides with specific, actionable coaching. This is neither a conventional teaching position nor a hands-off administrative role. You will answer for results, adherence to operational protocols, and unwavering quality standards.

If you are prepared to lead by example and cultivate a campus environment where achievement is earned through rigor, submit your application and demonstrate how you sustain excellence without compromise.

What you will be doing

  • Lead one-hour life skills sessions for K–8 learners by preparing and delivering activities in strict accordance with playbooks
  • Conduct structured goal sessions designed to drive student progress in academic applications and milestone achievement
  • Observe Guide performance directly and provide standards-aligned coaching with specific improvement steps and accountability
  • Apply objective, metrics-based judgment to maintain mastery expectations, even when challenging
  • Partner daily with on-campus teams to guarantee consistent execution of Alpha's 3 Promises

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver or supplement academic instruction in traditional classroom settings
  • Develop lesson plans or create original curriculum materials
  • Deviate from approved workshop frameworks or operate without structured guidance
  • Compromise mastery thresholds or adjust targets to create artificial progress
  • Manage remotely through paperwork while others engage directly with students

Key responsibilities

Ensure every K–8 student at Alpha's Dorado campus reliably experiences Alpha's 3 Promises: they love school, learn 2× faster, and build life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in Puerto Rico
  • Capacity to work full-time on-site at the Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of applicable experience coaching individuals toward ambitious goals
  • Background working with children ages 5–14 in coaching, motivational, or youth development contexts
  • Track record coaching or managing adult performance with defined standards and accountability
  • Proficient verbal communication skills tailored to K–8 audiences
  • Data-informed decision-making capability (leveraging metrics and analytics to guide strategy and enforce standards)
  • High-expectations orientation with confidence delivering candid feedback and upholding objectives without concession
