Director de Aprendizaje y Desarrollo   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site position located in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • Annual compensation of 150,000 USD, disbursed weekly

If traditional educational environments no longer challenge you and you reject lowering expectations to avoid conflict, this opportunity will stand apart. You will guide students and adults toward ambitious goals through data-driven methods and explicit standards—not through conventional lectures or lesson planning.

Alpha School is constructing an AI-enabled framework in which students achieve mastery of essential academics in only two hours daily, dedicating afternoons to developing practical life competencies. Our commitment is both straightforward and rigorous: students enjoy school, accelerate learning at 2× the rate of peers, and cultivate real-world capabilities. This position ensures that commitment becomes reality for every K–8 student at our Dorado location.

You will maintain direct involvement. You will facilitate one-hour life skills sessions, conduct structured motivational meetings that propel students through academic applications, and provide Guides with specific feedback paired with actionable improvement plans. This is neither a conventional teaching position nor a detached administrative role. You will own outcomes, adherence to established protocols, and unyielding quality benchmarks.

If you are prepared to lead by example and cultivate a campus environment where achievement is earned through discipline, submit your application and demonstrate how you uphold rigorous standards without compromise.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver one-hour life skills sessions for K–8 students by preparing materials and executing activities in strict accordance with playbooks
  • Conduct structured motivational sessions designed to drive student progress in academic applications and goal attainment
  • Monitor Guide performance in real time and provide standards-aligned coaching with explicit improvement directives and accountability
  • Apply objective, metrics-based reasoning to maintain mastery thresholds, even in challenging circumstances
  • Work closely with on-campus personnel daily to ensure uniform fulfillment of Alpha's 3 Promises

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver or support academic instruction in traditional classroom formats
  • Develop lesson plans or create original curriculum materials
  • Deviate from prescribed playbooks or improvise workshop content
  • Compromise mastery benchmarks or adjust targets to simulate achievement
  • Operate remotely from administrative tasks while delegating direct student engagement to others

Key responsibilities

Ensure that each K–8 student enrolled at Alpha's Dorado campus reliably receives Alpha's 3 Promises: they enjoy school, accelerate learning by 2×, and develop essential life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in Puerto Rico
  • Capacity to fulfill full-time, on-site responsibilities at the Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience coaching individuals to ambitious performance outcomes
  • Demonstrated background working with children aged 5–14 in coaching, motivational, or youth development contexts
  • Proven experience coaching or managing adult performance using explicit standards and accountability frameworks
  • Proficient verbal communication tailored to K–8 age groups
  • Capability to make decisions informed by data (leveraging metrics and analytics to establish direction and enforce standards)
  • Commitment to high standards with readiness to provide direct feedback and sustain goals without exception
