Principal Product Architect   $400,000 USD/year

Description

2 Hour Learning seeks a technically rigorous product leader to drive the architecture and evolution of our AI-native learning platform. This position demands someone capable of functioning at CTO-level technical depth while maintaining product vision and a commitment to transforming education through artificial intelligence at scale.

Unlike most educational technology companies that layer AI features onto legacy systems, 2 Hour Learning has engineered an entirely new school model. Our foundation rests on AI and learning science working in concert to eliminate traditional classroom limitations. The results speak for themselves: students routinely earn 4s and 5s on AP exams, demonstrate multi-year growth within single academic years, and exceed their own projected outcomes. When AI becomes the fundamental infrastructure of education rather than a supplementary tool, student performance reaches new thresholds.

This position diverges significantly from conventional product management centered on user feedback cycles or incremental releases. You will assume executive-level technical product ownership, controlling architectural direction, technical strategy, and AI integration across our complete learning ecosystem. Your mandate includes navigating complex technical tradeoffs to maintain lean, scalable products laser-focused on measurable student achievement. The role requires CTO-caliber thinking combined with entrepreneurial execution speed, merging engineering discipline with learning science principles to deliver continuous innovation.

If you possess both the ambition to fundamentally reimagine education and the operational discipline to execute that vision, we invite your application. You will have the opportunity to architect the next generation of learning systems.

What you will be doing

  • Building and maintaining comprehensive education product expertise that informs high-level strategic choices
  • Creating technical specifications that resolve critical architectural decisions while prioritizing simplicity, operational efficiency, and sustainable design
  • Deploying generative AI capabilities to automate engineering workflows and reduce manual intervention, consistent with our strategic commitment to operational leverage

What you will NOT be doing

  • Focusing primarily on team management; this role emphasizes your technical and business judgment
  • Spending time in excessive meetings, committees, or administrative processes; we have streamlined management overhead to maximize hands-on contribution
  • Creating abstract strategies disconnected from execution; your guidance must emerge from product-level understanding

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as CTO for one or more education products, holding ownership of core technical capabilities and generating business impact through flawless execution and strategic leadership

Candidate requirements

  • Significant experience or demonstrated interest in data-driven learning science
  • 7+ years making critical architecture and design decisions on software projects, including application of architectural design patterns or major open source technologies
  • 2+ years making design decisions involving cloud computing services (primarily AWS)
  • 4+ years in roles with complete technical and delivery accountability for a revenue-generating product
  • Track record of building product features leveraging advanced Generative AI
  • Experience applying Generative AI to streamline and simplify operational processes
