Director of Product Architecture   $400,000 USD/year

Description

We are seeking a deeply technical product leader to spearhead the modernization of our AI-driven learning ecosystem at 2 Hour Learning. This position requires the technical depth to function as a CTO, the strategic product insight to catalyze transformational outcomes, and the drive to apply both toward unlocking student potential at scale.

Unlike companies that layer AI onto conventional education frameworks as an add-on, 2 Hour Learning has fundamentally redesigned the school model. We've leveraged AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations inherent in traditional classrooms. The results speak for themselves: our students achieve multiple 4s and 5s on AP exams, demonstrate multi-year academic advancement within a single year, and routinely exceed their own expectations. When AI becomes the foundational operating system for learning, student performance reaches extraordinary levels.

This is not a conventional product management position centered on iterative feature releases or customer feedback cycles. It is an executive-level technical product ownership role in which you will control the architecture, technical roadmap, and AI integration across our entire learning platform. Your mandate will be to make critical technical tradeoffs that keep our products lean, scalable, and unwaveringly focused on student outcomes. You will combine the mindset of a CTO with the execution velocity of a product entrepreneur, merging engineering rigor with learning science principles to drive continuous innovation.

If you are prepared to lead the technical transformation of education and possess the executional discipline to realize that vision, we invite you to apply. This is your chance to shape the future of learning.

What you will be doing

  • Building and demonstrating comprehensive education product expertise to inform strategic direction
  • Authoring technical specifications that embody critical technical decisions and emphasize simplicity, efficiency, and sustainability
  • Deploying generative AI capabilities to automate and optimize engineering workflows, supporting the strategic objective of minimizing manual effort

What you will NOT be doing

  • Traditional people management; this role centers on your business insight and technical expertise
  • Spending time in meetings, committees, or administrative overhead; we have streamlined management processes to enable you to focus on hands-on value creation
  • Formulating high-level strategy without actionable implementation detail; your guidance must be grounded in product-level understanding

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, owning foundational competencies and generating business impact through flawless execution and strategic leadership

Candidate requirements

  • Substantial experience or demonstrated interest in data-driven learning science
  • 7+ years of experience driving critical architecture and design decisions on software projects, including the application of architectural design patterns or major open source technologies
  • 2+ years of experience making design decisions that involve cloud computing services (primarily AWS)
  • 4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery ownership of a revenue-generating product
  • Experience developing product features that leverage advanced Generative AI techniques
  • Experience applying Generative AI to streamline and simplify work processes
