Field Operations Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Take possession of a vacant building. Transform it into a fully functioning school. Hand it over to operations and move to the next city. This is rapid-cycle delivery, project after project. If that appeals to you, read on.

2 Hour Learning operates schools where students complete their academic work in two hours, then dedicate the remainder of their day to life skills, entrepreneurship, and opportunities traditional schooling doesn't accommodate. The results speak for themselves: students performing in the top 1-2% nationally, progressing at double the standard rate. None of this happens without campus readiness. Your role is to ensure that: school campuses delivered fully operational, on schedule and within budget, spanning a growing portfolio of micro schools, growth campuses, and flagship vertical campuses in major metropolitan areas.

Timelines are invariably tight. Building turnover to opening day occurs in weeks, not months. That requires orchestrating vendor execution, monitoring dependencies on a daily basis, and leveraging AI to preempt any open issue before it causes a schedule slip. After a campus launches, you hand the site to the permanent operations team and proceed to the next build.

You'll begin with micro-campus buildouts — the most rapid and repeatable projects in the portfolio. As the network scales to include growth and flagship campuses, so will the scope and complexity of your project portfolio.

When a school opens on schedule and students arrive on Day 1, your contribution is invisible. That's what success looks like. Apply today through our assessment process: a cognitive evaluation followed by a practical work sample.

What you will be doing

  • Overseeing the complete buildout for each campus assignment: coordinating FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) sourcing and installation, interior construction, IT infrastructure, signage, and playspace from building turnover through launch day
  • Executing a condensed delivery timeline tied to a fixed opening date: sequencing vendor workflows, managing interdependencies, and compressing schedule wherever the calendar demands
  • Coordinating and approving vendor execution: issuing scopes of work, supervising on-site performance, inspecting against specifications, and formally rejecting non-conforming deliverables
  • Leveraging AI systems to draft vendor scopes, create punch lists, monitor open items, and produce handoff documentation — the pace of this role demands it
  • Implementing standardized site deployment protocols, confirming operational readiness upon completion, recording structured feedback, and orchestrating handoff to the ongoing operations team

What you will NOT be doing

  • Running steady-state facility operations once a campus is live: you transfer responsibility to the permanent ops team and shift to the next project
  • Executing hands-on trade or installation labor: your function is to direct, inspect, and approve — not perform physical construction or cabling work
  • Handling real estate acquisition, permitting, or certificate of occupancy: those milestones are complete before the building is handed to you
  • Operating on a single project at a leisurely pace: micro-campus buildouts progress rapidly, and the pipeline is continuous
  • Navigating ambiguous ownership or shared accountability: each buildout has a single accountable owner from turnover to opening day

Key responsibilities

Deliver fully operational campuses on time and on budget, from building handoff through opening day.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 2 years in operations, facilities, or project delivery
  • Track record of identifying and correcting a broken process, with quantifiable results: documented cost reduction, cycle time improvement, or quality enhancement
  • Experience owning a multi-phase project from start to finish, including documented closeout
  • Proven vendor management capability: enforce quality standards with contractors and challenge substandard performance
  • Experience managing 2 or more concurrent projects or sites simultaneously without losing track of critical details
  • Routine use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or equivalent) to accelerate work and maintain organization
  • Based in the US and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Able to travel 60–80% of the time (3–4 days/week)

Nice to have

  • You've participated in a physical buildout or site activation in any sector: retail, food service, healthcare, commercial office, or comparable environments
  • Experience in construction project management, tenant improvement, commercial fit-out, or facilities management
  • Any direct exposure to FF&E, IT deployment, signage, or commercial interior execution, even in a supporting or coordination capacity
  • You've worked with a project tracking platform (Wrike, Notion, Procore, Asana, Monday.com, or similar) to organize tasks or schedules

About Crossover

What you will learn

  • How to execute complex buildouts under compressed schedules: every campus launch represents a project delivery cycle that most project managers spend years accumulating elsewhere
  • How to scale up in project complexity — micro-campus buildouts are your entry point; perform well, and your next assignment expands in scope, vendor count, system complexity, and geographic reach
  • How to construct operational AI workflows integrated into daily field operations: not a supplementary tool, but the foundation for how scopes are written, punch lists are maintained, and handoffs are documented
  • A field-tested site deployment methodology you'll execute and refine — your documented field feedback directly informs how subsequent campuses are built across the network
