Field Operations Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Take the keys. Stand up the campus. Hand it over. Walk an empty building through to a fully operational school site, then transfer it to the permanent operations team and move to the next city. This is execution at pace, repeating monthly. If this approach appeals to you, read on.

2 Hour Learning operates schools in which students complete their core academics in two hours, dedicating the remainder of each day to life skills, entrepreneurship, and activities traditional schooling rarely accommodates. The approach delivers measurable outcomes: students ranking in the top 1-2% nationally and advancing at double the standard pace. But none of it functions unless the physical campus is ready. You will ensure that readiness: fully functioning school sites delivered on time and within budget across an expanding portfolio of micro schools, growth campuses, and flagship vertical campuses in major urban markets.

The timelines are always tight. Convert building handoff to opening day within weeks, not months. That requires sequencing vendor activities, monitoring dependencies on a daily basis, and deploying AI to anticipate and resolve open issues before they cascade into delays. After a campus launches, you transition responsibility to the ongoing operations team and shift to the next site.

You'll begin with micro-campus deployments — the highest-velocity, most standardized projects in the pipeline. As the network grows to encompass growth and flagship campuses, the scope and complexity of your assignments will scale accordingly.

When a school opens on schedule and students arrive on Day 1, your contribution is invisible. That's success. Apply now via our assessment process: a cognitive evaluation and a practical work sample.

What you will be doing

  • Overseeing the complete buildout for each campus in your portfolio: managing FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) procurement and installation, interior construction, IT infrastructure, signage, and playspace from building handoff to opening day
  • Executing a compressed delivery timeline against a fixed opening date: structuring vendor work sequences, tracking project dependencies, and compressing schedules wherever required
  • Managing and accepting all vendor deliverables: issuing scopes of work, supervising on-site execution, inspecting against specifications, and formally rejecting substandard performance
  • Deploying AI tools to draft vendor scopes, produce punch lists, monitor open items, and assemble handoff documentation — this role operates at a speed that demands it
  • Implementing standardized site deployment playbooks, confirming operational readiness at completion, capturing structured feedback, and preparing the transition to the ongoing operations team

What you will NOT be doing

  • Running ongoing facility operations once a campus is live: you transfer ownership to the permanent ops team and advance to the next buildout
  • Conducting hands-on trades or installation labor: your responsibility is to direct, inspect, and approve — not to physically execute installation or construction tasks
  • Handling real estate acquisition, permitting, or certificate of occupancy processes: those steps are complete before the site is transferred to you
  • Executing a single project over an extended timeline: micro-campus buildouts advance quickly, and the next one is already queued
  • Operating in environments with ambiguous ownership or diffuse accountability: every buildout has a single accountable owner from handoff through opening

Key responsibilities

Deliver fully operational school campuses on time and within budget, from building handoff through opening day.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in operations, facilities, or project delivery
  • Documented experience identifying and repairing a broken process, with a quantifiable outcome: cost reduction, timeline compression, or quality improvement
  • Proven ownership of a multi-step project from inception through documented completion
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors: enforce quality standards and challenge contractors when work does not meet expectations
  • Experience managing 2 or more concurrent projects or sites without loss of control or oversight
  • Consistent use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or equivalent) to accelerate work and maintain organization
  • Located in the US and authorized to work without visa sponsorship
  • Willing to travel 60–80% of the time (3–4 days per week)

Nice to have

  • Prior involvement in a physical buildout or site activation across any sector: retail, food service, healthcare, commercial office, or comparable environments
  • Experience in construction project management, tenant improvement, commercial fit-out, or facilities management
  • Exposure to FF&E, IT deployment, signage, or commercial interior work, even in a support or coordination capacity
  • Familiarity with project tracking platforms (Wrike, Notion, Procore, Asana, Monday.com, or similar) for task and timeline management

About Crossover

What you will learn

  • How to execute complex buildouts under compressed timelines: each campus launch represents a delivery iteration that typically takes project managers years to accumulate in other environments
  • How to advance in project scale — micro-campus buildouts are your entry point; perform well, and subsequent assignments grow in scope, vendor count, system complexity, and geographic reach
  • How to construct operational AI workflows integrated into daily project work: not an occasional productivity tool, but the core mechanism for drafting scopes, tracking punch lists, and generating handoff documentation
  • A structured site deployment methodology you will execute and refine — your documented field feedback directly informs how future campuses are built across the entire network
