Field Operations Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Take possession of a shell space, turn it into a ready-to-open school, and hand it off to operations. Then move to the next city and do it again. This is delivery at pace, project after project. If that approach appeals to you, read on.

2 Hour Learning operates schools where students complete their academic requirements in two hours, freeing the rest of the day for life skills, entrepreneurship, and opportunities traditional schooling rarely accommodates. The outcomes speak for themselves: students placing in the top 1-2% nationally, progressing at double the standard rate. But none of it happens without a ready campus. Your responsibility is to deliver that: fully functional school sites, on schedule and within budget, across an expanding footprint of micro schools, growth campuses, and flagship vertical campuses in major metropolitan areas.

Timelines are tight by design. You'll go from building handover to doors-open in weeks, not months. That requires sequencing vendor activities, monitoring dependencies in real time, and leveraging AI to surface every outstanding task before it becomes a blocker. Once the campus is operational, you transfer ownership to the standing operations team and begin the next deployment.

You'll begin with micro-campus builds — the highest-velocity, most standardized projects in the pipeline. As the network grows to incorporate growth and flagship sites, the scale and intricacy of your assignments will expand accordingly.

When a school opens on schedule and students arrive on Day 1, your contribution is invisible. That's success. Apply today via our assessment process: a cognitive evaluation, then a hands-on work sample.

What you will be doing

  • Overseeing end-to-end buildout for each campus under your scope: managing FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) sourcing and setup, interior finishes, IT systems, signage, and playspace from building handover to launch
  • Executing against a fixed opening date on a compressed schedule: ordering vendor workflows, controlling project interdependencies, and compressing timelines where necessary
  • Supervising and signing off on vendor deliverables: issuing work specifications, overseeing on-site execution, verifying compliance with requirements, and formally rejecting substandard work
  • Deploying AI-powered tools to generate vendor scopes, produce punch lists, monitor open tasks, and assemble handoff documentation — the pace of this role demands it
  • Implementing standardized deployment protocols, confirming site readiness at completion, capturing structured operational feedback, and orchestrating the transition to the permanent operations team

What you will NOT be doing

  • Running day-to-day facility operations once a campus is live: you transfer responsibility to the ongoing ops team and shift to the next deployment
  • Executing physical installation or trade work yourself: your role is to manage, inspect, and approve — not to install equipment or run cabling
  • Handling real estate acquisition, permitting, or occupancy certification: those steps are completed before the building is assigned to you
  • Operating on a single project with extended timelines: micro-campus builds are rapid-cycle, and the next one is always queued
  • Navigating ambiguous ownership or shared accountability: every buildout has a single accountable lead from handover to opening

Key responsibilities

Deliver fully operational school campuses on time and within budget, from building handover to opening day.

Candidate requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in operations, facilities, or project delivery
  • Proven track record of diagnosing and correcting a failing process, with quantifiable outcomes: cost reduction, timeline compression, or quality enhancement
  • Ownership of a multi-phase project from initiation to documented close, managed end-to-end
  • Strong vendor management capability: enforce quality standards and challenge contractors when deliverables fall short
  • Concurrent management of 2 or more live projects or locations without loss of control or oversight
  • Routine use of AI productivity tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or equivalent) to accelerate work and maintain organization
  • US-based and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Willingness to travel 60–80% of the time (3–4 days per week)

Nice to have

  • Prior involvement in a physical site buildout or activation across any sector: retail, food service, healthcare, corporate offices, or comparable
  • Experience in construction project management, tenant improvements, commercial fit-outs, or facilities operations
  • Direct or supporting exposure to FF&E coordination, IT deployment, signage installation, or commercial interior execution
  • Familiarity with project management platforms (Wrike, Notion, Procore, Asana, Monday.com, or similar) for task and timeline coordination

About Crossover

What you will learn

  • How to execute complex site builds under aggressive timelines: every campus you open is a delivery cycle that typically takes project managers years to replicate elsewhere
  • How to scale in project complexity — micro-campus builds are your entry point; consistent performance unlocks larger assignments with expanded systems, vendor networks, complexity, and geographic reach
  • How to integrate AI capabilities into core operational workflows: not a sporadic aid, but the foundation for how scopes are written, punch lists are maintained, and handoffs are formalized
  • A validated site deployment framework you'll execute and refine — your documented field observations directly inform how future campuses are built network-wide
