DevOps Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This role is for a DevOps engineer who prioritizes prevention over reaction. If you find satisfaction in dissecting complicated legacy infrastructure, architecting more robust systems, and automating every manual process you find, this position will be a strong fit. We need a DevOps and AWS infrastructure specialist who excels in demanding environments where 99.9% uptime is the baseline expectation. Your work will span a portfolio of acquired products, each bringing unique challenges, as you migrate them into a unified, scalable AWS infrastructure while implementing monitoring and automation designed to minimize incidents.

While most organizations ask you to support a single platform, we're asking you to unify and enhance multiple platforms without causing disruptions. Where other teams keep databases separate, we take a different approach, strategically merging them to improve cost efficiency and manageability across our portfolio. This position isn't suited for someone content with maintaining the status quo; it's designed for someone who encounters inconsistent, scattered infrastructure and instinctively begins planning improvements.

Your ownership will extend from infrastructure migrations through AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database transitions, and cost reduction. This includes identifying and resolving existing issues, orchestrating smooth cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and using AI/ML-driven workflows to automate significant portions of your responsibilities. You'll possess genuine decision-making authority over infrastructure—no delays waiting for sign-off from stakeholders disconnected from the technical reality.

If you're a self-directed problem-solver energized by untangling intricate systems and achieving operational excellence, this role will be highly rewarding. If you require constant guidance, struggle with diverse technology stacks, or favor greenfield projects over bringing structure to complexity, this environment won't suit you. If you're prepared to assume responsibility for a high-impact infrastructure position with opportunities to build, refine, and automate at scale, submit your application today!

What you will be doing

  • Orchestrating and executing complex infrastructure transformations, including transitions from legacy platforms to AWS cloud infrastructure and lift-and-shift migrations
  • Architecting and deploying monitoring strategies and creating automations for monitoring, software releases, and operational processes
  • Conducting system monitoring, system backups, incident management, database migrations, database configurations, and cost optimization

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending your time in Jira and constant status meetings - we prioritize people who deliver solutions, not merely document issues
  • Supporting obsolete systems without end - you'll be authorized to pursue substantial improvements
  • Waiting on bureaucratic approval processes - you'll possess the authority to implement immediate corrections during incidents
  • Operating in restrictive technical silos - this position demands both wide-ranging knowledge and specialized expertise
  • Justifying budget for essential improvements - we recognize the value of infrastructure investment

Key responsibilities

  • Advance reliability and consistency of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Extensive AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our core platform - experience with other clouds alone is insufficient)
  • Solid programming capabilities in Python or JavaScript for developing automation and tooling
  • Experience operating and migrating production databases across multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Advanced proficiency with Docker/Kubernetes
  • Experience using infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • Linux systems administration expertise
