Description

Ready to help kids read better—and live better?

At Nova Academy, we’ve redesigned school from the ground up to do one thing exceptionally well: deliver real mastery in less time. Our 2 Hour Learning model compresses the academic day into high-impact, AI-personalized learning blocks, giving students more space for hands-on projects, real-world application, and life skill development. We’re not here to teach to the test—we’re here to build confident, capable readers who think critically, act boldly, and lead with purpose.

This role is your chance to take everything you know about effective reading instruction and use it to drive real change in a rural Texas community. You'll work with small groups of K–8 students in Bastrop, TX, delivering adaptive, tech-enhanced reading sessions and shaping scalable practices that can be rolled out across Nova’s fast-growing school network. The ideal candidate isn’t just a reading specialist—they’re a literacy architect, a motivator, and a believer that every student is limitless.

If you’re energized by the idea of blending cutting-edge edtech with real-world impact—and you’re ready to ditch the red tape in favor of real results—this is the job that lets you do the work that matters.

This role is based in Bastrop, TX, and if you're not here yet, we'll help get you here. Relocation support included.

What you will be doing

  • Leading structured, high-intensity reading workshops that develop phonics, fluency, and comprehension in early learners
  • Using data from AI tools and assessments to tailor instruction and maximize student growth
  • Designing motivational tactics that get students genuinely excited about reading milestones
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to iterate on Nova’s literacy model for scale and impact
  • Coaching students not just to read—but to think, communicate, and lead with clarity and confidence

What you will NOT be doing

  • Following rigid lesson scripts that ignore student needs and data insights
  • Wasting hours on grading, paperwork, or generic prep
  • Teaching in overcrowded classrooms without the resources to personalize instruction
  • Operating solo; this is a deeply collaborative, innovation-driven role
  • Working in a system that prioritizes seat time over real student mastery

Key responsibilities

Design and deliver a scalable, high-impact reading intervention that enables K–8 students to achieve true literacy mastery and become confident communicators prepared for life beyond the classroom.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and advanced certification in reading instruction (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years experience providing small-group reading interventions to early elementary students
  •  Proficient in assessing reading levels, grouping students, and designing differentiated instruction without a prewritten script
  • Comfortable using AI and adaptive learning tools to support instruction and track progress
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Willing to work full-time on-site at our Bastrop, TX campus
