Description

Open schools. Change lives. Do it faster than the system expects.

Most people say they want to make an impact on the world. Very few are willing to do the unglamorous, high-friction work required to actually make it happen.

At 2 Hour Learning, we are rebuilding education so kids can master academics in two focused hours a day and spend the rest of their time learning how to think, build, create, and live. That future does not arrive through vision decks or policy arguments. It arrives when a building is approved, inspected, and ready to open its doors.

In this role, you will be the person who turns intent into reality. You'll transform empty spaces into fully operational schools by navigating permits, inspections, and contractor timelines. You won't wait for perfect information or accept “that’s just how it works.” You'll build trust, get creative, and follow through until the issue is resolved.

This is not a remote coordination role. It requires showing up, calling inspectors, walking into city offices, coordinating vendors, and catching issues before they become delays. Progress depends on your presence and judgment. You can expect to travel 3-4 days a week, most weeks, exploring cities across the country.

You'll work with city officials and construction teams, while keeping senior internal leaders clearly informed. Some days you will be on-site, unblocking problems. On other days, you will be translating local regulations into a clear action plan. You know that being there changes outcomes.

You'll have the opportunity to grow as fast as our school network. Each city will sharpen your judgment. Each launch will build skills that transfer to opening locations at scale, multi-jurisdictional compliance, and infrastructure-heavy programs. You will see how systems actually work and build new ones that work better.

When you do this job well, a school opens. And when a school opens, kids get access to a better education sooner, not someday.

If that responsibility excites you, you will thrive here. If you want a narrow scope or guaranteed answers, this role is not a fit.

If this sounds like the work you want to be doing, we want to meet you.

What you will be doing

  • Researching local permitting, licensing, zoning, and inspection requirements using AI tools and primary sources
  • Calling city and regional offices directly to verify requirements, clarify gray areas, and identify compliant paths forward
  • Translating fragmented rules, emails, and conversations into clear checklists, timelines, and next actions
  • Preparing, submitting, and tracking filings to approval with high attention to detail
  • Coordinating with construction teams and vendors so build timelines align with inspection and approval schedules
  • Traveling frequently, typically 3 - 4 days per week, to US cities to move openings forward on the ground
  • Maintaining simple, accurate trackers so teams always know what is approved, what is blocked, and what you are doing about it
  • Communicating updates in a crisp format to senior internal stakeholders

What you will NOT be doing

  • Guessing at regulations without verifying directly from authoritative sources
  • Waiting for permission to act or for someone else to define the next step
  • Hiding behind email when a phone call or in-person conversation will move things faster
  • Writing long theoretical documents that do not result in approvals
  • Doing abstract strategy disconnected from real deadlines and outcomes

Key responsibilities

Independently drive compliant, on-time microschool launches by combining high-agency execution, AI-enabled research, and relationship-driven problem solving across jurisdictions.

Candidate requirements

  • Based in the United States and authorized to work without visa sponsorship
  • Willing and able to travel 60-80% of the time across U.S. cities
  • Demonstrated ownership of outcomes in ambiguous or fast-moving environments
  • Evidence of effective communication with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders and external partners
  • Comfort initiating conversations with unfamiliar stakeholders and building rapport quickly
  • Strong follow-through on detail-heavy work with real deadlines
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools such as ChatGPT or Perplexity to accelerate research, planning, or communication

Nice to have

  • Experience that involved permits, inspections, facilities, construction, real estate, or compliance, including internships or project-based roles
  • Student government, event operations, facilities roles, or leadership positions requiring coordination across multiple parties
  • Exposure to city, county, or state government offices in any capacity
  • Background in public administration, urban planning, legal studies, business operations, or communications
  • Interest in long-term career paths involving site launches, multi-location operations, infrastructure programs, real estate development, or logistics networks
