Network Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You're the type of DevOps engineer who ensures systems stay running before problems arise, not just when they fail. If you enjoy dissecting complex legacy infrastructure, engineering more streamlined systems, and automating every manual process you find, this role will suit you. We need a DevOps and AWS infrastructure specialist who excels in demanding environments where 99.9% uptime is the baseline. Your work will span a portfolio of acquired products—each with distinct characteristics—migrating them into a unified, scalable AWS environment while implementing monitoring and automation that keeps incidents uncommon.

Most organizations expect you to support one stack. We expect you to integrate and refine several stacks without causing disruptions. Where others separate databases, we take a different approach, consolidating them strategically to improve cost efficiency and management across our portfolio. This position isn't for someone content to oversee existing infrastructure; it's designed for someone who encounters a disjointed, inconsistent environment and immediately begins planning improvements.

Your responsibilities will range from infrastructure migrations to AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database transitions, and cost management. This includes identifying and resolving issues, executing smooth cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and using AI/ML-driven workflows to automate significant portions of your workload. You'll have genuine decision-making power over infrastructure choices—no delays waiting for sign-off from those unfamiliar with the technical realities.

If you're a self-sufficient problem-solver who enjoys unraveling complicated systems and ensuring flawless operation, this role will be rewarding. If you require constant guidance, struggle with diverse technology stacks, or favor greenfield projects over organizing chaos, this won't be the right fit. If you're prepared to assume ownership of a high-impact infrastructure position with opportunities to build, refine, and automate at scale, submit your application now!

What you will be doing

  • Executing complex infrastructure transitions, including migrations from legacy environments to AWS cloud platforms and lift-and-shift operations
  • Creating and deploying monitoring strategies and developing automation for monitoring, software releases, and operational processes
  • Conducting system monitoring, backup operations, incident management, database migrations, database setup, and cost reduction initiatives

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending time in Jira and constant status updates - we prioritize people who deliver solutions, not just document issues
  • Keeping legacy systems running forever - you'll be authorized to implement substantial improvements
  • Waiting for bureaucratic approval processes - you'll possess the authority to implement immediate fixes during incidents
  • Operating within restrictive technical boundaries - this position demands both wide-ranging and deep technical knowledge
  • Justifying budget for essential improvements - we recognize the value of infrastructure investment

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure reliability and consistency of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio through effective monitoring, automation, and adherence to AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Extensive AWS infrastructure knowledge (this is our core platform - experience with other clouds alone is insufficient)
  • Proficient programming abilities in Python or JavaScript for creating automation and tools
  • Proven experience managing and migrating production databases across multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Expert-level Docker/Kubernetes capabilities
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • Strong Linux systems administration background
