Network Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You're a DevOps engineer who prioritizes prevention over reaction. If you find satisfaction in dissecting complex legacy infrastructure, architecting efficient systems, and automating every manual process you find, this role will suit you. We need a DevOps and AWS infrastructure specialist who excels in high-pressure scenarios where 99.9% uptime is the baseline expectation. Your work will span a portfolio of acquired products, each with distinct characteristics, as you migrate them into a unified, scalable AWS environment while establishing monitoring and automation that reduce incidents significantly.

Most organizations ask you to maintain one stack. We're asking you to consolidate and refine several stacks without causing disruptions. Where others separate databases, we take a different approach, consolidating them strategically to enhance cost efficiency and management across our portfolio. This role isn't suited for someone interested in maintaining the status quo; it's designed for someone who identifies a fragmented, inconsistent environment and immediately envisions how to improve it.

Your scope includes infrastructure migrations, AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database transitions, and cost management. This means troubleshooting and resolving existing issues, planning and executing cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and using AI/ML-driven workflows to automate significant portions of your workload. You'll have genuine decision-making authority over infrastructure choices—no prolonged waiting for sign-offs from stakeholders unfamiliar with the technical details.

If you're a self-directed problem-solver who enjoys decoding complex systems and ensuring they operate seamlessly, this position will challenge and engage you. If you require continuous guidance, feel daunted by managing multiple technology stacks, or prefer starting fresh rather than creating structure from disorder, this role won't be a good fit. If you're prepared to assume responsibility for a high-impact infrastructure position with opportunities to build, refine, and automate at scale, submit your application now!

What you will be doing

  • Planning and executing infrastructure changes of significant complexity, including transitions from legacy environments to AWS cloud infrastructure and lift-and-shift migrations
  • Designing and deploying monitoring strategies and creating automation for monitoring, deployment processes, and operational procedures
  • Conducting system monitoring, backup operations, incident management, database migrations, database configuration, and cost optimization activities

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending your time in Jira and continuous status meetings - we prioritize individuals who deliver solutions, not just document issues
  • Keeping outdated systems running indefinitely - you'll have the support to implement substantial improvements
  • Waiting on bureaucratic approval processes - you'll possess the authority to implement immediate fixes when resolving incidents
  • Being confined to narrow technical specializations - this position demands both wide-ranging knowledge and deep expertise
  • Struggling for budget to deploy critical upgrades - we recognize the value of infrastructure investment

Key responsibilities

  • Drive reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Deep AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our primary platform - experience with other cloud providers alone is insufficient)
  • Experience scripting with Python and Bash for routine administrative operations
  • Experience managing and migrating production databases across multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • Linux systems administration expertise
