Network Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You're a DevOps engineer who prioritizes prevention over reaction. If you find satisfaction in dissecting convoluted legacy infrastructure, architecting more streamlined systems, and automating every recurring task you come across, this role will resonate with you. We need a DevOps and AWS infrastructure specialist who excels in demanding environments where 99.9% uptime is the baseline expectation. Your work will span a portfolio of acquired products, each carrying unique characteristics, as you migrate them into a unified, scalable AWS environment while establishing monitoring and automation frameworks that reduce incident frequency.

Most organizations ask you to maintain one stack. We're asking you to consolidate and refine multiple stacks without causing disruption. Where others separate databases, we take a different approach, consolidating them strategically to improve cost efficiency and management simplicity across our portfolio. This position isn't suited for someone content with maintaining existing infrastructure; it's designed for someone who encounters inconsistent, fragmented systems and immediately envisions a superior architecture.

Your ownership will extend from infrastructure migrations through AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database migration, and cost management. This includes identifying and resolving current issues, planning and executing smooth cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and using AI/ML-powered workflows to automate significant portions of operational work. You'll possess genuine authority to make infrastructure decisions—no prolonged waiting for approvals from individuals unfamiliar with the technical realities.

If you're a self-directed problem-solver who enjoys untangling intricate systems and ensuring their flawless operation, this role offers substantial opportunity. If you require constant guidance, feel overwhelmed managing multiple technology stacks, or prefer greenfield projects over creating order from complexity, this position won't be a good fit. If you're prepared to assume ownership of a high-impact infrastructure role with opportunities to build, optimize, and automate at scale, submit your application now!

What you will be doing

  • Planning and executing sophisticated infrastructure changes, including migrations from legacy environments to AWS cloud infrastructure and lift-and-shift migrations
  • Designing and deploying monitoring frameworks and creating automations for monitoring, software deployments, and operational processes
  • Conducting system monitoring, system backups, incident response, database migrations, database configurations, and cost optimization

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending time in Jira and endless status meetings - we prioritize people who deliver solutions, not just document problems
  • Maintaining legacy systems indefinitely - you'll be empowered to implement meaningful improvements
  • Getting blocked by bureaucratic approval processes - you'll have the authority to implement immediate fixes to address incidents
  • Operating within narrow technical silos - this role demands both breadth and depth of technical expertise
  • Fighting for budget to deploy critical improvements - we recognize the value of infrastructure investment

Key responsibilities

  • Drive reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying robust monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Deep AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our primary platform - other cloud experience alone won't cut it)
  • Strong programming skills in Python or JavaScript for building automation and tooling
  • Experience managing and migrating production databases with multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Advanced Docker/Kubernetes skills
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • Linux systems administration expertise
