Facilities Support Specialist   $60,000 USD/year

Description

LOCATION NOTE: This is an in-person position based at our Austin, TX campus.

A well-run campus feels orderly, welcoming, and calm—the result of countless decisions made behind the scenes to maintain that environment.

Nova Academy serves students and families who hold high expectations for their school experience. Those expectations reach beyond the classroom. They surface in how communication happens, how secure students feel, how efficiently the day flows, and how swiftly issues are addressed. This position ensures that all of those elements function reliably, day after day.

In this position, you hold responsibility for all non-academic campus operations. You establish trust with families by delivering clear, prompt communication. You protect student safety by managing procedures and responding to incidents. You oversee facilities, logistics, and daily systems so that staff remain focused on students. You also ensure that technology enables learning instead of disrupting it.

This is a practical, community-facing position for someone who thrives on variety, accountability, and service. If you find energy in resolving challenges, supporting others, and building an environment where students and staff succeed, this position provides substantial ownership and influence.

What you will be doing

  • Developing strong connections with parents, students, and staff using proactive, bilingual outreach
  • Supervising campus safety functions, including entry protocols, health responses, emergency drills, record-keeping, and parent communication
  • Coordinating daily campus functions such as attendance tracking, transportation logistics, facilities maintenance, and office management
  • Assisting with onboarding and orientation for new staff to facilitate seamless integration into campus operations and culture
  • Overseeing student devices and campus technology systems, acting as the on-site technology liaison and Google Administrator

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering classroom instruction or supporting academic teaching
  • Mentoring Guides or contributing to curriculum development
  • Functioning within a narrowly scoped or strictly clerical capacity
  • Working in a static, entirely predictable setting
  • Transferring problems to others rather than resolving them directly

Key responsibilities

Ensure Nova Academy functions safely, smoothly, and reliably so that students, staff, and families encounter a high-trust, well-managed campus environment every day.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (field of study not specified)
  • At least 1 year of experience in office coordination, facilities support, site operations, or comparable operational roles
  • Comfort performing basic technology tasks including device setup, troubleshooting, and account administration
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Capacity to handle multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both spoken Spanish and English
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Availability to work on-site in Austin, TX, or readiness to relocate

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of operational management experience
  • Background serving as a Google Administrator
  • Experience coordinating and executing events
