Cloud Architect   $100,000 USD/year

Description

As a DevOps engineer, you understand that uptime isn't about responding to failures—it's about preventing them entirely. If you find satisfaction in dissecting complex legacy infrastructure, architecting more efficient replacements, and automating every manual process in sight, this role is built for you. We need a DevOps and AWS infrastructure specialist who excels in demanding production environments where 99.9% uptime is the baseline expectation. Your work will span a portfolio of acquired products, each with unique technical debt, as you migrate them into a unified, scalable AWS environment and implement monitoring and automation that makes outages uncommon.

While most organizations have you manage one stack, we expect you to unify and refine multiple stacks without introducing disruption. Where others distribute databases, we take a different approach, consolidating them strategically to maximize cost efficiency and operational simplicity across our portfolio. This position isn't suited for someone looking to maintain the status quo; it's designed for someone who encounters fragmented, inconsistent infrastructure and immediately envisions a superior architecture.

Your scope includes infrastructure migrations, AI-powered automation, performance optimization, database migration, and cost management. This means identifying and resolving existing issues, orchestrating smooth cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and using AI/ML-driven workflows to eliminate repetitive work. You'll possess genuine decision-making authority over infrastructure—no prolonged waiting for sign-offs from stakeholders unfamiliar with the technical reality.

If you're a self-sufficient problem-solver who enjoys unraveling complex systems and ensuring they operate without fault, this role will be highly engaging. If you require constant guidance, struggle with diverse technology stacks, or prefer greenfield projects over bringing structure to disorder, this environment won't suit you. If you're prepared to own a high-impact infrastructure position with the freedom to build, refine, and automate at scale, submit your application now.

What you will be doing

  • Orchestrating and executing sophisticated infrastructure transformations, including migrations from legacy platforms to AWS cloud infrastructure and lift-and-shift migrations
  • Architecting and deploying monitoring strategies and creating automations for monitoring, software deployments, and operational processes
  • Conducting system monitoring, system backups, incident management, database migrations, database configurations, and cost optimization

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending your days in Jira and status meetings - we prioritize people who deliver solutions, not just document issues
  • Preserving legacy systems indefinitely - you'll be authorized to implement substantive improvements
  • Waiting through bureaucratic approval processes - you'll have the autonomy to implement immediate fixes during incidents
  • Operating within restrictive technical silos - this position demands both wide-ranging and deep technical knowledge
  • Justifying budgets for essential infrastructure upgrades - we recognize the value of infrastructure investment

Key responsibilities

  • Advance reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Deep AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our primary platform - other cloud experience alone won't cut it)
  • Experience scripting with Python and Bash for day-to-day administration operations
  • Experience managing and migrating production databases with multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
  • Linux systems administration expertise
