Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: This position requires you to be on-site at our Austin, Texas campus.

Traditional schools focus on telling students what to think. This position is about showing them how to get things done.

Alpha is designing a new model for high school—one where students don't passively absorb lectures or cram facts. Instead, they create, launch, articulate, and advance. They initiate ventures, experiment with concepts, and acquire practical capabilities most people never obtain. Your role is to ensure they follow through with rigor and excellence.

You will engage directly with high school students as they launch businesses, manage projects, and cultivate the confidence, articulation, and competence needed to thrive after graduation. You are not here to deliver academic theory. You are here to facilitate execution. You will establish demanding standards, maintain accountability, and challenge students to deliver work that holds up in professional contexts.

This position is designed for individuals who have accomplished something substantive beyond academia—whether launching a product, building an audience, working within a startup, or producing results in a dynamic setting—and now seek to channel that background into preparing the next cohort of achievers. If you are seeking a conventional teaching position, look elsewhere. If you are motivated to influence how driven young people reason, operate, and perform, this opportunity is for you.

If you have built something tangible in your professional life and want to dedicate your time to propelling ambitious high schoolers toward their full capacity, apply today.

What you will be doing

  • Design practical workshops that teach students to cultivate genuine social media audiences
  • Mentor students on content planning, from concept generation to refinement with AI-powered tools
  • Support students in transforming their specialized knowledge into compelling personal brands
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group coaching to help students define objectives, maintain consistency, and produce concrete deliverables
  • Enforce rigorous expectations for communication quality, output standards, and commitment
  • Shepherd students through applied projects (entrepreneurship, digital marketing, software development, etc.) with a focus on measurable outcomes
  • Monitor student development across the 3 C's and take action when performance declines
  • Maintain transparent dialogue with students and families regarding achievements, shortcomings, and action plans

What you will NOT be doing

  • Conducting conventional classroom lectures or following a prescribed syllabus
  • Reviewing piles of assignments or emphasizing abstract academic concepts
  • Coddling disengaged students or compromising standards to preserve comfort levels
  • Working within a sluggish, red-tape-heavy traditional school system

Key responsibilities

Produce quantifiable improvement in students' confidence, communication ability, and practical competence by guiding them to execute consistently at elevated standards.

Candidate requirements

  • Proven record of significant personal accomplishment in at least one applied area: launching a business, expanding an audience, generating revenue, producing published research, competing at elite levels, or equivalent
  • Effective coaching and mentoring capabilities, with the ability to motivate adolescents
  • 3+ years of experience coaching/mentoring teenagers
  • Superior communication and presentation abilities
  • Proficiency with AI and technology tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
  • Available to work on-site in Austin, TX. Relocation support is provided
  • Authorized to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Specialized expertise in at least one professional domain (entrepreneurship, medicine, sales, technology, creative sectors, finance, competitive athletics) that you can integrate into coaching sessions and workshops with precision
  • Background working in a startup or rapidly scaling organization at any capacity
