Instructional Designer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

IMPORTANT: This is a full-time, on-site position located at our Austin, Texas campus.

Envision inspiring an 8-year-old to pitch business ideas with confidence or a 10-year-old to captivate an audience like a seasoned TED speaker. At Alpha, this isn't just a possibility—it's the standard. We craft life skills workshops that challenge K–8 students to achieve the 'impossible,' and we're seeking someone who can design experiences that leave kids eager for more and parents buzzing with admiration.

This is far from a conventional instructional design role. You won't be caught up in endless lesson tweaks or creating content that goes unused. Here, you'll take full ownership of designing workshops in public speaking and entrepreneurship, elevating them through direct feedback from students, parents, and rigorous Test2Pass assessments. You'll function like a solo product team, equipped with state-of-the-art AI tools, delivering the exceptional work our schools demand.

This position is based at our Austin, TX campus. It's full-time and on-site because observing firsthand how kids engage is essential. If you're passionate about creating educational experiences that are joyful, surprising, and focused on mastery, this is the opportunity for you.

What you will be doing

  • Crafting life skills workshops in public speaking and entrepreneurship that captivate children and earn parental praise.
  • Developing robust Test2Pass assessments to accurately gauge growth and proficiency.
  • Watching student interactions in actual workshops and using both their enthusiasm and parental insights to refine designs.
  • Leveraging AI tools to explore, distill insights, and speed up iteration processes.
  • Shaping content that balances emotional impact with academic credibility, ensuring it is both delightful and rigorous.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Depending on static curricula or traditional academic standards.
  • Working in isolation: this role requires continuous feedback from real students and parents.
  • Creating materials without measurable outcomes or clear mastery objectives.
  • Conducting workshops yourself (our Guides handle that).

Key responsibilities

Develop compelling life skills workshops in public speaking and entrepreneurship that enchant children, impress parents, and clearly foster mastery through Test2Pass, enabling kids to surpass expectations.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • Minimum 1 year of experience developing educational content, workshops, or training programs
  • Proven capability to design experiences that delight children and impress parents
  • Experience in creating assessments that measure actual skills (beyond mere participation)
  • Strong ability to decompose and simplify complex life skills into teachable steps
  • Proficiency with Generative AI tools
  • Ability to work independently within a high-autonomy, self-directed team
  • Commitment to full-time, on-site work at Alpha’s Austin campus
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
