Training and Development Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

IMPORTANT: This is a full-time, on-site position at our Austin, Texas campus.

Picture yourself being the catalyst that enables an 8-year-old to pitch like a seasoned entrepreneur or a 10-year-old to captivate an audience like a TED speaker. At Alpha, we make the extraordinary the norm. We create life skills workshops that empower K–8 students to achieve the "impossible," and we're searching for someone who can design experiences that kids eagerly anticipate and parents rave about.

This isn't your typical instructional design role. You won't be stuck revising outdated lessons or crafting unused content. Here, you'll take full ownership of workshop design in public speaking and entrepreneurship, elevating them with real-time feedback from students, parents, and our rigorous Test2Pass assessments. You'll function as a one-person product team, equipped with cutting-edge AI tools, and produce the quality of work expected at our schools.

This position is based at our Austin, TX campus. It's full-time and in-person because observing student engagement firsthand is crucial. If you're passionate about creating educational experiences that are joyful, stunning, and mastery-focused, this is the opportunity you've been waiting for.

What you will be doing

  • Crafting mastery-focused life skills workshops in public speaking and entrepreneurship that captivate children and earn parental admiration.
  • Developing rigorous Test2Pass assessments to objectively evaluate growth and mastery.
  • Analyzing student behavior in actual workshops and using the energy and feedback from kids and parents to enhance designs.
  • Leveraging AI tools to delve deep, synthesize insights, and speed up iteration cycles.
  • Shaping content for emotional impact and academic integrity, always striving for delight and rigor.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Depending on outdated curricula or conventional academic benchmarks.
  • Working in isolation: this role requires ongoing feedback from real kids and parents.
  • Creating materials without measurable outcomes or clear mastery objectives.
  • Conducting workshops yourself (that's the role of our Guides).

Key responsibilities

Design captivating life skills workshops in public speaking and entrepreneurship that resonate with children and impress parents, while clearly demonstrating mastery through Test2Pass assessments. Empower kids to achieve beyond their years.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in creating educational content, workshops, or trainings
  • Proven ability to design experiences that engage children and impress parents
  • Experience in developing assessments that measure genuine skills (beyond mere participation)
  • Strong skills in breaking down and simplifying complex life skills into teachable steps
  • Proficient in using Gen AI tools
  • Capable of working independently in a high-autonomy, self-directed team environment
  • Willing to work full-time on-site at Alpha’s Austin campus
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
