Picture yourself as the catalyst behind an 8-year-old delivering a business pitch that rivals most adults, or a 10-year-old owning a stage with the presence of a TED presenter. At Alpha, these outcomes aren't aspirational—they're standard. We create life skills workshops that empower K–8 students to achieve what seems "impossible," and we're seeking someone capable of designing experiences students are eager to return to and parents enthusiastically recommend.
This position differs fundamentally from conventional instructional design roles. You won't spend time refining lessons within bloated bureaucracies or developing content that sits unused. Instead, you'll take complete ownership of workshop design in entrepreneurship and public speaking, then refine them continuously using live feedback from students, parents, and stringent Test2Pass assessments. You'll function as a self-contained product team, equipped with advanced AI tools, and held to the elevated standards our schools demand.
This role requires full-time, in-person presence at our Austin, TX campus. Direct observation of how students actually engage is essential. If designing educational experiences that are joyful, transformative, and mastery-focused appeals to you, this position delivers that opportunity.
What you will be doing
- Creating mastery-focused life skills workshops in entrepreneurship and public speaking that captivate students and earn parental admiration.
- Developing rigorous Test2Pass assessments to objectively track growth and demonstrate mastery.
- Watching students in live workshop settings and converting both student engagement patterns and parent feedback into actionable design enhancements.
- Leveraging AI tools to explore deeply, synthesize findings, and speed up iteration timelines.
- Designing content that balances emotional impact with academic rigor, consistently targeting both delight and measurable learning.
What you will NOT be doing
- Depending on static curricula or conventional academic standards.
- Designing in isolation: this position requires continuous engagement with actual students and parents.
- Creating materials without measurable outcomes or defined mastery objectives.
- Facilitating workshops yourself (our Guides handle delivery).
Key responsibilities
Design compelling life skills workshops in entrepreneurship and public speaking that students love, parents value, and that clearly build mastery through Test2Pass. Enable children to accomplish achievements beyond their expected developmental stage.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any field
- At least 1 year of experience designing educational content, workshops, or trainings
- Proven ability to create experiences that engage kids and impress parents
- Demonstrated experience developing assessments that measure authentic skill (not merely participation)
- Strong ability to decompose and simplify complex life skills into teachable components
- Proficient with Gen AI tools
- Capable of working independently within a high-autonomy, self-directed team
- Willing to work full-time in-person at Alpha's Austin campus
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
