Learning And Development Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

NOTE: This is a full-time, on-site role at our Austin, Texas campus.

Picture this: an 8-year-old pitching a business idea with the prowess of a seasoned entrepreneur, or a 10-year-old delivering a speech that captivates like a TED talk. At Alpha, that's our reality. We're on a mission to create life skills workshops that inspire K–8 students to achieve the extraordinary. We seek a visionary to design experiences kids crave and parents rave about.

This isn't your typical instructional design position. Forget endless revisions in bureaucratic settings or crafting content that gathers dust. Here, you'll spearhead the creation of public speaking and entrepreneurship workshops, enhancing them with feedback from students, parents, and our Test2Pass evaluations. Operate as a dynamic one-person product team, utilizing state-of-the-art AI tools to meet our school's high standards.

This position is based at our Austin, TX campus. It's full-time and in-person to ensure you witness firsthand how kids engage. If you're eager to craft educational experiences that are joyful, awe-inspiring, and mastery-focused, this is your opportunity.

What you will be doing

  • Creating life skills workshops in public speaking and entrepreneurship that captivate students and earn parental admiration.
  • Developing comprehensive Test2Pass assessments to evaluate growth and mastery objectively.
  • Observing student interactions in real workshops, refining designs based on student energy and parental input.
  • Leveraging AI tools to dive deep, extract insights, and speed up your iteration processes.
  • Crafting content that balances emotional appeal with academic integrity, aiming for both delight and rigor.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Depending on unchanging curricula or conventional academic standards.
  • Working in isolation: this role thrives on continuous feedback from real students and parents.
  • Creating materials without clear outcomes or mastery goals.
  • Facilitating workshops yourself (that's the role of our Guides).

Key responsibilities

Design captivating life skills workshops in public speaking and entrepreneurship that enchant kids, impress parents, and clearly demonstrate mastery through Test2Pass, empowering children to exceed expectations.

Candidate requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • A minimum of 1 year in developing educational content, workshops, or training programs.
  • Proven track record of designing experiences that engage children and win over parents.
  • Experience in crafting assessments that measure actual skills, not just participation.
  • Exceptional skills in breaking down complex life skills into teachable components.
  • Proficiency with Generative AI tools.
  • Ability to work independently within a self-directed, high-autonomy team.
  • Commitment to a full-time, in-person role at Alpha’s Austin campus.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
