Head of Admissions   $200,000 USD/year

Description

While most enrollment functions prioritize volume, this position is designed to uphold standards.

Alpha is constructing a school model among the most ambitious globally. Our campuses integrate rigorous academics with technology-enabled learning and maintain elevated expectations for both students and staff. Student learning outcomes routinely exceed national benchmarks, supported by measurable data. Afternoons are dedicated to depth, autonomy, and development of practical competencies. This approach is effective. Its success, however, depends on enrolling the right families.

This is your responsibility.

You will manage the complete enrollment cycle for a campus, spanning initial inquiry to onboarding. This position does not involve delegation. You are accountable for the family experience, the clarity with which they grasp the model, and ensuring enrollment decisions align with our standards. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate informed discussions, and recommend against enrollment when appropriate. Maximum headcount is not the objective. Alignment is.

We welcome applicants from premium service backgrounds outside conventional education: selective private schools, competitive programs, luxury hospitality, executive assistance, exclusive membership organizations, or entrepreneurial operators who have directly managed high-value client relationships from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to execute a high-touch, multi-phase process with sound judgment, clarity, and accountability.

If your professional experience centers on delivering white-glove service where trust, discretion, and quality define brand perception, this role will be recognizable—simply applied to work that produces measurable outcomes.

This is a full-time, salaried, on-site position. We are hiring across La Jolla, Los Angeles, Marin County, Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, and South Bay. Relocation assistance is provided.

What you will be doing

  • Taking full ownership of the enrollment experience for prospective families, from initial contact through final onboarding.
  • Facilitating needs-assessment discussions to evaluate alignment prior to presenting options or advising on next steps.
  • Overseeing 20+ concurrent family relationships across various stages of enrollment, maintaining clear tracking and timely follow-through.
  • Delivering campus tours, shadow visits, and consultative conversations that articulate outcomes, expectations, and the ideal candidate profile for the model.
  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of CRM and enrollment data (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, prioritization, and consistent service delivery.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Applying transactional or aggressive sales methods.
  • Accepting families who lack alignment in order to meet enrollment quotas.
  • Overseeing a large team or navigating complex approval hierarchies.
  • Handing off family relationship ownership to other departments or individuals.
  • Working remotely. This is an on-campus role by design.

Key responsibilities

Design and deliver a high-trust, selective enrollment process that successfully enrolls aligned families while safeguarding the integrity and academic performance of the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing premium, personalized service in settings where service excellence directly shapes brand reputation (education, luxury hospitality, executive support, exclusive membership, or owner-operated client services).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment lifecycle from initial outreach through onboarding.
  • Experience concurrently managing 20+ client, guest, or family relationships in various phases, supported by a structured tracking and prioritization approach.
  • Ability to present specific examples of consultative judgment, including instances where you advised against your own product or service due to misalignment.
  • Professional written communication experience engaging senior executives, high-net-worth clients, or discerning audiences.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these locations: La Jolla, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Marin County, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; or South Bay, CA.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience with selective private school admissions or competitive program intake.
  • Background in luxury hospitality, VIP concierge services, or executive-level client support.
  • Experience developing or refining enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service excellence benchmarks.
  • Familiarity with leveraging data and CRM analytics to enhance enrollment quality, not merely throughput.
