Description

MUST HAVE: Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate + Arizona Residency Required.

Ready to transform how special education works in the 21st century?

Unbound Academy isn't your typical school—we've completely reimagined education from scratch. As the pioneering virtual, tuition-free charter school, our students conquer core academics in just 2 hours daily through cutting-edge adaptive AI technology. This revolutionary approach frees up entire afternoons for immersive, practical learning experiences. Our educators aren't traditional teachers—they're Guides who mentor, motivate, and facilitate dynamic workshops covering everything from creative storytelling to business innovation, design thinking, and holistic wellness.

We're seeking an exceptional Special Education specialist who can wear two hats seamlessly: serve as an inspiring student coach fostering life readiness while expertly managing our comprehensive IEP program with unwavering accuracy.

This opportunity is designed for the seasoned SPED professional who's mastered every aspect of the field. You've commanded your own classroom and simultaneously been the strategic mind crafting, revising, and orchestrating IEPs behind the scenes. You understand how to maintain rigorous compliance standards while never losing sight of what truly matters—the students. You call Arizona home and possess full certification. Above all, you're passionate about engaging in purposeful, impactful work within an educational environment that genuinely prepares young minds for authentic success.

If you're prepared to break free from bureaucratic constraints and revolutionize special education, this is your opportunity to create something extraordinary.

What you will be doing

  • Crafting, revising, and overseeing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with meticulous attention to Arizona state compliance standards
  • Orchestrating accommodations and regulatory requirements within our innovative virtual learning ecosystem
  • Facilitating dynamic, practical virtual workshops covering subjects like business development, narrative creation, and holistic health
  • Mentoring SPED students through individual and small-group sessions to cultivate self-assurance, organizational skills, and independent thinking
  • Partnering with our educational team to continuously enhance our approach to supporting and empowering diverse learners

What you will NOT be doing

  • Conducting conventional academic lessons—our intelligent AI tutoring system manages that component
  • Operating in isolation from student interaction—you'll maintain active, meaningful engagement with learners
  • Getting bogged down in redundant documentation, excessive meetings, or restrictive oversight
  • Adhering to rigid, standardized teaching approaches—this is personalized, flexible education at its finest

Key responsibilities

Spearhead the creation, implementation, and regulatory adherence of comprehensive IEPs while facilitating meaningful, skill-building virtual learning experiences that prepare students for real-world success.

Candidate requirements

  • Must be an Arizona resident
  • Possess current Arizona Special Education teaching credentials
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience developing and modifying IEPs
  • Proven track record managing accommodations and navigating SPED regulatory requirements
  • Previous experience supporting students in the 8–14 age range
  • Exceptional virtual communication abilities and natural on-screen presence
  • Excel in dynamic, technology-driven educational settings
