Special Education Facilitator   $60,000 USD/year

Description

MANDATORY: Possession of an active Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate and residency in Arizona.

Imagine using your Special Education skills to do more than just ensure compliance—imagine helping to reinvent education itself.

Welcome to Unbound Academy, a pioneering virtual, tuition-free charter school where students excel academically in just two hours a day, thanks to adaptive AI. This allows them to spend afternoons engaged in immersive, real-world learning. Here, our Guides don't lecture; they mentor, inspire, and lead interactive workshops in storytelling, entrepreneurship, design, wellness, and more. We are seeking a Special Education professional who can excel in coaching students for life readiness and manage our IEP program with precision.

This position is perfect for a seasoned SPED teacher. You've run your own classroom and have been the go-to person for writing, updating, and coordinating IEPs. You understand compliance but focus on keeping students at the heart of everything. Based in Arizona and fully certified, you are most excited about meaningful work that truly prepares students for life, rather than busywork.

If you're ready to leave the bureaucratic red tape behind and want to do Special Education differently, this is your opportunity to create something extraordinary.

What you will be doing

  • Crafting, revising, and overseeing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in strict accordance with Arizona state standards
  • Managing accommodations and compliance across a vibrant virtual learning platform
  • Conducting engaging, real-world virtual workshops on topics like entrepreneurship, storytelling, and wellness
  • Providing one-on-one and small group coaching to SPED students to enhance their confidence, executive functioning, and self-direction
  • Collaborating with our educational team to transform how we support and empower exceptional learners

What you will NOT be doing

  • Providing conventional academic instruction—our AI tutors handle that aspect
  • Working in isolation from the classroom—you’ll be actively involved with students
  • Wasting time on unnecessary paperwork, meetings, or micromanagement
  • Adhering to a generic teaching model—our approach is customized and agile

Key responsibilities

Lead the creation, implementation, and compliance of all IEPs while engaging students in transformative, life-skill-enhancing virtual experiences.

Candidate requirements

  • Must reside in Arizona
  • Possess a valid Arizona Special Education teaching certification
  • At least 3 years of experience in writing and updating IEPs
  • Experience in coordinating accommodations and managing SPED compliance tasks
  • Previous experience working with children aged 8–14
  • Strong virtual communication skills and on-camera confidence are crucial
  • Excel in a dynamic, tech-driven school environment
