Literacy Interventionist   $60,000 USD/year

Description

You recognize the turning point. The instant a student stops fumbling and begins reading with purpose. They meet your eyes and say, "I've got this." If that's the work you're after each day, this is where you belong.

Unbound is a remote-first online school designed for genuine progress, not hours logged. We're rethinking how students advance so they move faster, find joy in learning, and graduate with measurable confidence.

Most of your time will be spent delivering high-impact intervention sessions. The remainder, you'll facilitate brief motivational touchpoints that keep students aligned and achieving targets. This role fits those who value independence, rapid feedback, and visible results. It's not suitable for anyone seeking a scripted playbook or who hesitates around data.

If you're ready to help struggling readers achieve substantial progress—and you value the flexibility to customize your methods for each student—we're eager to connect.

What you will be doing

  • Create and conduct virtual small-group and individual reading intervention sessions for students in grades 3–8
  • Analyze reading assessment data to identify fluency and comprehension deficits and modify instruction rapidly
  • Adapt activities for varied reading levels, including accommodations for dyslexia and associated reading challenges
  • Monitor progress using clear, consistent methods and apply the data to guide upcoming sessions
  • Facilitate structured motivational touchpoints that cultivate confidence, persistence, and pride in achievement

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver large, whole-class instruction or present from a rigid curriculum
  • Execute a pre-written program without responding to student needs and immediate feedback
  • Serve as a passive "software supervisor" without substantive teaching and relationship-building
  • Depend on superficial incentives that fail to foster enduring motivation

Key responsibilities

Take ownership of outcomes for grades 3–8—quantifiable improvements in fluency and comprehension—by providing personalized virtual interventions and motivational guidance that strengthens confidence.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a closely related field
  • Reading intervention certification or endorsement (e.g., Arizona Reading Specialist K-12 or equivalent state certification)
  • Specialized training or certification in dyslexia intervention (or related structured literacy approaches)
  • At least 2 years of experience delivering small-group or one-on-one reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
  • Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
  • Ability to interpret progress monitoring data and use it to plan and adjust instruction
  • Strong ability to engage and manage students in a virtual setting through clear, motivating communication
  • Available to work in a hybrid capacity in Arizona as needed.
