Do you believe every student deserves literacy at grade level or beyond, but feel frustrated watching flawed systems fail to deliver?

Alpha School is demonstrating that literacy transformation doesn't demand traditional 6-hour school days. Our 2-Hour Learning framework combines AI-adaptive platforms with skilled teaching to accelerate reading development. Your role: create and execute workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for students in early elementary grades.

This role isn't about administrative lesson planning. It's about instruction anchored in data, collaboration with technology teams, and constructing a reading curriculum that scales to thousands of learners.

Dorado advantages: Pristine coastline within minutes. A lively bilingual setting with convenient access to San Juan's arts and culture, while enjoying small-town living standards.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting adaptive reading workshops that strengthen phonics, comprehension, and fluency abilities
  • Creating personalized motivational experiences anchored in gamified literacy achievements
  • Evaluating student performance data to sharpen instructional approaches and extract practical insights
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI-powered literacy platforms informed by classroom outcomes
  • Building scalable, AI-supported materials that enable early elementary learners to reach grade-level reading competency

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering traditional front-of-room lectures — students progress through self-directed AI applications, not passive listening
  • Adhering to off-the-shelf curricula or scripted lessons — you construct your workshop content independently
  • Instructing in core academic disciplines — your concentration is reading workshops and motivational support, not mathematics or science instruction
  • Managing behavior or providing childcare — each session targets specific learning goals with trackable results
  • Operating independently — you work closely with engineers who develop the AI systems your students engage with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student in your group achieves grade-level or higher reading proficiency through AI-enhanced workshops that make phonics instruction engaging, data-informed, and enjoyable

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's degree in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for student and family communication)
  • 2+ years implementing small-group reading interventions with early elementary students
  • Capable of assessing reading proficiency, organizing students into groups, and creating differentiated instruction without relying on pre-built curricula
