Director of Parent Experience   $200,000 USD/year

Description

In Santa Barbara, families don't chase trends—they create them.

Alpha is opening a campus in one of California's most discerning, relationship-oriented communities. This is not another private school vying for attention through facilities. Students finish their core curriculum in two concentrated hours using AI-driven learning platforms, then dedicate the remainder of the day to developing public speaking ability, critical reasoning, and practical execution skills. Outcomes consistently place students in the top 1% nationally. The model is proven. The challenge lies in building trust within this market.

From year zero through year one, this is a ground-up enrollment leadership position. In Santa Barbara, success depends on building credibility within closely knit social networks where reputation accumulates quickly and errors are remembered. You will design intimate information sessions, facilitate private campus visits, conduct individual family meetings, and carefully assemble the founding cohort. After enrollment targets are met and an admissions director is brought on board, your focus transitions to becoming the campus's principal parent relations leader—maintaining alignment and converting satisfied families into active advocates throughout their networks.

This role is not about transactional selling. It requires trust-building with sophisticated audiences. You must establish credibility with families who have access to every educational option in the nation and who expect substantive responses to challenging questions about AI integration, screen exposure, and long-term student outcomes. A single misaligned family can disrupt the dynamics of a 25-student cohort. Selective admissions is essential.

If you are prepared to build something exceptional in a market that values polish, discretion, and measurable results, this opportunity is for you.

What you will be doing

  • Take full ownership of the enrollment process from initial inquiry through signed enrollment agreements until 25 students are confirmed
  • Design and lead curated information sessions and private campus tours that attract ideal families while filtering out those who are not the right fit
  • Establish trust and visibility through consistent in-person networking, private family consultations, and strategic community partnerships throughout Santa Barbara
  • Act as the main point of contact for prospective and enrolled families, providing personalized, concierge-level engagement
  • Present and defend Alpha's AI-powered educational approach to discerning, questioning parents with clarity and confidence

What you will NOT be doing

  • Following a standard 9–5 routine; early mornings, late afternoons, and occasional evenings are part of the role
  • Depending on a large admissions or marketing staff to generate leads
  • Enrolling every applicant to meet quotas; maintaining cohort integrity is more important than raw numbers
  • Operating from behind a desk; this position demands regular, visible presence in the community

Key responsibilities

Recruit and enroll a founding cohort of 25 students in Santa Barbara, then nurture parent satisfaction and advocacy to support long-term, referral-driven growth.

Candidate requirements

  • Currently live within commuting distance of Santa Barbara or able to relocate within 60 days
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship
  • 5+ years of experience working with high-net-worth clients in consultative sales or premium client service roles (examples: private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropic advising, etc.)
  • Proven track record managing a sales or enrollment pipeline with measurable conversion outcomes
  • Executive-level presence and communication ability appropriate for affluent, highly educated audiences
  • Self-motivated entrepreneur comfortable working autonomously in a new campus setting
  • Strong belief in AI-powered education and ability to address concerns regarding screen time and non-traditional learning models
  • Available for early morning hours (7–9am), late afternoon shifts (2–4pm), evening engagements (2–3x monthly), and periodic weekend commitments

Nice to have

  • Existing personal or professional networks within Santa Barbara or Montecito
  • Prior leadership experience in private or independent school admissions
  • Professional background in luxury real estate, capital campaigns, or major donor relations
  • Experience working in a startup or early-stage venture
  • Track record organizing premium events or building strategic community alliances
