Director of Enrollment and Parent Relations   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Santa Barbara families don't chase trends. They create them.

Alpha is opening a campus in one of California's most discerning, relationship-centric communities. This is not just another private school competing on facilities. Students complete their core academics in two concentrated hours using AI-powered learning platforms, then dedicate the remainder of the day to developing public speaking abilities, critical thinking, and practical execution skills. The outcomes position students in the top 1% nationally. The model delivers. The challenge is building trust locally.

From year zero through year one, this is a ground-up enrollment leadership position. In Santa Barbara, that requires building credibility within close-knit social networks where reputation multiplies and mistakes endure. You will design intimate information sessions, conduct private campus tours, engage families in one-on-one discussions, and carefully assemble the founding cohort. After enrollment is established and an admissions director is brought on board, your role evolves into the campus's lead parent-relations executive, maintaining alignment and converting satisfied families into advocates throughout their networks.

This is not transactional selling. It is relationship-building at the executive level. You must establish credibility with families who have access to any school nationwide and who demand substantive responses to challenging questions about AI integration, screen time, and long-term educational outcomes. One poorly matched family can disrupt a 25-student cohort. Selectivity is essential.

If you are ready to build something exceptional in a market that values refinement, discretion, and measurable results, this is the role.

What you will be doing

  • Manage the complete enrollment process from initial inquiry through signed enrollment agreement until 25 students are confirmed
  • Conduct carefully designed information sessions and private tours that attract ideal-fit families while filtering out mismatched applicants
  • Establish visibility and credibility through consistent in-person networking, private consultations, and strategic community partnerships throughout Santa Barbara
  • Act as the principal point of contact for prospective and enrolled families, providing personalized, white-glove service
  • Articulate and justify Alpha's AI-powered educational approach to discerning, questioning parents

What you will NOT be doing

  • Maintaining a standard 9–5 routine; early mornings, late afternoons, and occasional evenings are necessary
  • Depending on a full admissions or marketing department to generate leads
  • Enrolling every applicant to meet a quota; safeguarding cohort quality takes precedence over quantity
  • Operating from an office; this position demands regular presence throughout the community

Key responsibilities

Recruit and enroll a 25-student founding cohort in Santa Barbara, then foster parent commitment and advocacy to support ongoing, referral-driven growth.

Candidate requirements

  • Currently live within commuting range of Santa Barbara or prepared to relocate within 60 days
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship requirements
  • 5+ years of experience working with high-net-worth clients in consultative sales or premium client experience settings (private school admissions, luxury services, hospitality, philanthropy, etc.)
  • Proven track record managing a sales or enrollment pipeline with measurable conversion outcomes
  • Executive-level presence and communication abilities appropriate for affluent, well-educated families
  • Self-directed entrepreneurial mindset comfortable working autonomously in an early-stage campus setting
  • Belief in AI-powered education and confidence responding to concerns about screen exposure and non-traditional pedagogical models
  • Flexibility for early morning availability (7–9am), late afternoon meetings (2–4pm), evening programming (2–3x per month), and periodic weekend commitments

Nice to have

  • Existing connections within the Santa Barbara or Montecito community
  • Leadership experience in private or independent school admissions
  • Professional background in luxury real estate, development, or major gifts fundraising
  • Startup or early-stage venture experience
  • Experience organizing premium events or building strategic community partnerships
