Are you convinced every child should read at or above grade level, yet frustrated by systems that squander their promise?

Alpha School demonstrates that literacy transformation doesn't demand 6-hour instructional days. Our 2-Hour Learning framework integrates AI-adaptive platforms with expert teaching to accelerate reading development. Your role: architect and execute workshops that produce measurable gains in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for K-2 learners.

This role isn't about completing lesson-plan templates. It centers on data-informed teaching, technology partnership, and constructing a reading program that scales to thousands of students.

Dorado advantages: Unspoiled beaches within minutes. Dynamic bilingual surroundings and convenient proximity to San Juan's cultural offerings, paired with small-town livability.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops that build competencies in phonics, comprehension, and fluency
  • Creating personalized motivational experiences anchored in gamified literacy benchmarks
  • Evaluating student performance data to refine teaching methods and extract actionable intelligence
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI literacy platforms informed by classroom outcomes
  • Building scalable, AI-enriched materials that support early elementary learners in reaching grade-level mastery

What you will NOT be doing

  • Presenting from the front of a traditional classroom — learners advance through self-directed AI applications, not passive listening
  • Adhering to a boxed curriculum or scripted teaching guides — you construct original workshops independently
  • Instructing core academic content — your scope is reading workshops and motivational guidance, not math or science lessons
  • Managing behavior or supervising without purpose — each session targets a defined learning goal with trackable results
  • Operating independently — you engage directly with engineers who develop the AI platforms your students interact with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student in your cohort achieves at or above grade-level reading proficiency through AI-accelerated workshops that render phonics instruction engaging, quantifiable, and enjoyable

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree accompanied by either a Master's in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Fluent proficiency in English and Spanish (necessary for engagement with students and families)
  • 2+ years facilitating small-group reading interventions for early elementary learners
  • Competent in evaluating reading proficiency, organizing student groups, and developing differentiated instruction independent of pre-built curricula
  • Experienced with AI/adaptive learning technologies and attuned to student behavioral dynamics
  • Legal work authorization in Puerto Rico without need for sponsorship
  • Availability to work on-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
