Do you believe every student should master grade-level reading skills (or exceed them), yet find yourself frustrated watching ineffective systems squander their promise?

Alpha School demonstrates that significant literacy advancement doesn't demand 6-hour instructional days. Our 2-Hour Learning framework combines AI-powered adaptive platforms with skilled teaching to accelerate reading development. Your role: create and facilitate workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for early-grade learners.

This position isn't about administrative busywork or template lesson plans. It's about evidence-based teaching, technology partnership, and constructing a literacy initiative that scales to thousands of learners.

Life in Dorado: Stunning coastline within minutes. Dynamic bilingual setting with convenient proximity to San Juan's arts and dining, paired with relaxed residential atmosphere.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops focused on phonics, comprehension, and fluency development
  • Creating personalized motivational experiences leveraging gamified literacy checkpoints
  • Reviewing student performance data to adjust instruction and identify actionable patterns
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI literacy platforms using classroom feedback
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated content that enables early elementary learners to reach grade-level reading standards

What you will NOT be doing

  • Conducting traditional front-of-room lectures — learning happens through self-directed AI applications, not passive listening
  • Adhering to standardized curriculum packages or scripted teaching guides — you create original workshop content independently
  • Instructing in core academic disciplines — your scope is reading workshops and motivational support, not mathematics or science instruction
  • Managing behavior or providing childcare — each session targets specific learning goals with defined success metrics
  • Operating independently — you work alongside engineers developing the AI systems your learners engage with each day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 learner in your group achieves at or beyond grade level through AI-enhanced workshops that transform phonics instruction into something engaging, trackable, and effective

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for learner and family communication)
  • 2+ years facilitating small-group reading interventions with early elementary learners
  • Capable of evaluating reading proficiency, forming instructional groups, and developing differentiated lessons without relying on pre-built curricula
  • Comfortable using AI/adaptive learning platforms and interpreting student engagement data
  • Valid work authorization for Puerto Rico without employer sponsorship
  • Able to work on-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
