If you're committed to ensuring every child achieves grade-level reading proficiency—or better—and frustrated by ineffective systems that squander their promise, this role is for you.

Alpha School demonstrates that literacy transformation doesn't demand full-day schedules. Our 2-Hour Learning framework combines AI-driven adaptive platforms with skilled teaching to produce accelerated reading outcomes. Your objective: create and facilitate workshops that yield quantifiable improvements in phonics mastery, reading fluency, and comprehension for students in early elementary grades.

This position isn't about paperwork or compliance documentation. It centers on evidence-based instruction, cross-functional technology partnerships, and constructing a reading framework that scales to thousands of learners.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading sessions focused on phonics development, comprehension strategies, and fluency enhancement
  • Creating individualized motivational experiences through gamified literacy achievement markers
  • Reviewing student performance metrics to optimize teaching approaches and identify actionable trends
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI-powered literacy platforms based on real classroom outcomes
  • Building scalable, technology-enhanced curriculum content that supports early elementary learners in reaching grade-level reading benchmarks

What you will NOT be doing

  • Conducting traditional front-of-room lectures — learners engage through self-directed AI applications rather than passive listening
  • Implementing ready-made curriculum packages or scripted teaching guides — you author your workshop content independently
  • Instructing in other academic disciplines — your scope is limited to reading workshop facilitation and motivational support, excluding math or science
  • Managing behavior issues or supervising unstructured time — each session targets specific learning goals with defined success metrics
  • Operating independently — you work closely with the engineers who develop the AI systems your students interact with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student in your assigned group achieves grade-level reading competency or higher through AI-enhanced workshops that transform phonics instruction into an engaging, quantifiable, and enjoyable experience

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's degree in reading instruction OR a structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent credential)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for engaging students and families)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience conducting small-group reading intervention sessions with early elementary learners
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate reading proficiency, organize instructional groups, and create differentiated lessons independently of pre-built curricula
  • Competence with AI-based and adaptive learning technologies and attentive to student behavioral data
  • Legal authorization to work in Puerto Rico without employer sponsorship
  • Commitment to on-site work in Dorado, Puerto Rico
