Do you believe that every child should read at grade level or beyond, yet find yourself frustrated by ineffective systems that squander their promise?

Alpha School is demonstrating that literacy transformation doesn't demand 6-hour instructional days. Our 2-Hour Learning approach combines AI-adaptive platforms with specialized teaching to accelerate reading development. Your objective: create and execute workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for students in early elementary grades.

This role isn't about filling out lesson-plan templates. It's about evidence-based teaching, technology partnership, and constructing a reading curriculum that scales to thousands of learners.

Why Dorado: Immaculate coastlines within minutes. A dynamic bilingual setting with convenient proximity to San Juan's arts and culture, all while preserving a relaxed, community-focused lifestyle.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops focused on phonics, comprehension, and fluency development
  • Creating personalized motivational experiences through gamified literacy benchmarks
  • Reviewing student performance metrics to optimize teaching methods and extract actionable findings
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI-powered literacy platforms using real classroom feedback
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated materials that help early elementary learners reach grade-level reading proficiency

What you will NOT be doing

  • Standing at the front delivering lectures — learning happens via self-directed AI applications, not passive listening
  • Adhering to off-the-shelf curricula or scripted lessons — you create custom workshops independently
  • Instructing in academic disciplines — your scope is reading workshops and motivational support, not mathematics or science instruction
  • Managing behavior without purpose — each session targets specific learning goals with trackable results
  • Operating alone — you work hand-in-hand with engineers developing the AI platforms your students interact with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student in your group achieves at or above grade-level reading through AI-enhanced workshops that make phonics instruction compelling, trackable, and enjoyable

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (necessary for communication with students and families)
  • 2+ years conducting small-group reading interventions with early elementary learners
  • Capable of evaluating reading levels, organizing student groups, and crafting differentiated instruction independent of pre-made curricula
