Coordinador de Programas Juveniles   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • In-person position at Alpha School's Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • $100,000 annually ($50/hour, 40 hours/week), compensated weekly
  • Teaching certification not required; Spanish proficiency is an asset

The greatest support you can offer a student who reaches 99% of their target is to insist it is not finished. If this expectation unsettles you, this position will not be a fit. If it energizes you because maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate belief in a student's potential, continue reading.

Alpha School operates on the 2 Hour Learning framework: K-8 students complete a full day's worth of academics in approximately two hours using adaptive learning applications. No traditional lectures. No conventional textbooks. Your role focuses on what the technology cannot provide — guiding students through essential life competencies including public speaking, concentration, collaboration, and constructive feedback exchange.

Roughly 60% of your time will involve individualized coaching: reviewing learning app dashboards and Coachbot data, identifying where an 8-year-old struggles with fractions or a 5th grader avoids reading assignments, and helping them break through. The remaining 40% consists of facilitating interactive, hour-long workshops that resemble improv practice sessions more than traditional classroom instruction. All students must demonstrate mastery via Test2Pass evaluations before progressing.

This position offers growth. You'll manage a focused cohort and internalize Alpha's methodology during your first year. Demonstrate your ability to guide every student to 100% goal completion while maintaining strong satisfaction metrics, and advancement opportunities emerge to Lead Guide, then Campus Lead (overseeing an entire school). You'll witness a student who struggled with eye contact in September confidently present to a parent audience by spring.

Consider applying if you believe seating 30 children in rows to listen to one adult undermines their true capabilities.

What you will be doing

  • Providing one-on-one and small-group coaching to K-8 students using adaptive learning platforms, leveraging Coachbot analytics and performance dashboards to identify learning obstacles
  • Implementing Alpha's motivational systems (leaderboards, rewards, weekly goal-setting protocols) to ensure each student progresses at the target rate
  • Facilitating hour-long, experiential life-skills workshops focused on public speaking, concentration, teamwork, and feedback processes (project-driven and participatory, never lecture-based)
  • Conducting Test2Pass mastery evaluations and maintaining standards: students advance only after demonstrating genuine comprehension
  • Cultivating relationships with students where rigorous accountability feels empowering rather than punishing

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering lectures or traditional subject-matter instruction (core academics are learned through adaptive applications, not through you)
  • Creating lesson plans independently — Alpha supplies the curriculum and frameworks; you execute them with enthusiasm and narrative skill
  • Evaluating homework assignments or preparing students for standardized testing; these elements are absent here
  • Handling parent communications or operational responsibilities — Campus Leads manage those functions, allowing you to concentrate on your cohort
  • Observing students passively while they work on laptops; active coaching is the core function

Key responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% of their academic and life-skills targets.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to work on-site at Alpha's Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • 3+ years of direct, hands-on experience with K-8 (kindergarten through 8th grade) students in teaching, tutoring, youth programs, camps, or athletic coaching capacities
  • Demonstrated record of significant personal accomplishment in academic, athletic, or professional domains
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States or Puerto Rico without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish to connect effectively with students and families in the Dorado area
  • Background in coaching environments where elevated standards produced quantifiable results (competitive athletics, debate, performing arts, or selective youth initiatives)
  • Track record running youth workshops, summer programs, or after-school initiatives where you created the programming, not merely supervised
  • Knowledge of adaptive or application-based learning systems (e.g., Khan Academy, IXL, DreamBox)
