Coordinador de Programas Juveniles   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site at Alpha School campus, Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • 100,000/year, full-time
  • No formal teaching certification required

The most supportive thing you can do for a student who hit 99% of their goal is refuse to call it done. If that standard makes you uncomfortable, this role isn't for you. If it makes you light up because holding the bar is how you show a kid you believe they can clear it, keep reading.

Alpha School runs a 2 Hour Learning model where students master a full day of academics in about two hours through adaptive EdTech software. No lectures. No textbooks. Your job is the part technology can't do: coaching kids through life skills like public speaking, focus, teamwork, and giving and receiving feedback. You'll spend 60% of your time in hands-on motivation sessions, pulling up learning app dashboards, spotting who's stuck, and coaching them past obstacles. For the other 40%, you'll run interactive workshops where every student must prove mastery through Test2Pass assessments before moving on.

This role evolves. In year one, you own a small cohort and master Alpha's playbook: life-skills workshops, motivation sessions, mastery-based assessments. As you prove you can hold every student to 100% of their goals while keeping satisfaction scores above 90%, the path opens to Lead Guide: coaching a team while continuing to work directly with students. You'll watch a kid who couldn't make eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to a room full of parents by spring. The best people in this role don't just change individual lives; they shape how an entire campus operates.

If you've been coaching, mentoring, or teaching kids and wishing you could ditch the lesson plans and actually help them grow, this is your move.

What you will be doing

  • Coaching students one-on-one and in small groups to advance through adaptive learning apps, using Coachbot analytics to identify who's stuck and why
  • Running interactive one-hour life-skills workshops on public speaking, focus, teamwork, and feedback (hands-on and project-based, never lecture-style)
  • Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments to confirm students have truly learned each skill, not just participated
  • Building trust and rapport with your cohort so that high accountability feels motivating, not punitive
  • Tracking student progress against weekly goals and satisfaction scores, adjusting your approach when results fall short

What you will NOT be doing

  • Lecturing in front of a classroom or delivering traditional academic instruction (students learn core subjects through adaptive apps, not from you)
  • Writing lesson plans from scratch (Alpha provides a life-skills curriculum and playbooks; your job is to bring them to life with energy and storytelling)
  • Grading stacks of homework or managing standardized test prep (none of that exists here)
  • Managing parent relationships or school operations (Campus Leads own those; you stay focused on your students)
  • Working in isolation (you're part of a campus team with Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and peers who share feedback and hold each other accountable)

Key responsibilities

Coach a cohort of K-8 students to hit 100% of their academic and life-skills goals.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working directly with K-8 students (teaching, tutoring, youth programs, camps, or sports coaching)
  • Willing to work on-site at Alpha School's campus in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • Legal right to work in the United States or Puerto Rico without visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Spanish fluency for building rapport with students and families in the Dorado community
  • Experience running youth workshops, summer camps, or after-school programs where you designed the activities, not just supervised
  • Track record of motivating young people to hit measurable goals (test scores, athletic performance, competition results)
  • Background in performance coaching, youth sports, or youth development programs with structured accountability
