Director of Parent Engagement   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • Location: On-site in Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla (San Diego), or Los Angeles (South Bay), CA
  • Compensation: $200,000 annually · Full-time
  • Benefits include: Health, vision, dental, 401k, PTO, and more

The families you will serve do not require additional services. They require someone they trust implicitly.

This position represents the core of that relationship. You will be the individual families turn to when something seems misaligned, when they seek informed perspective, or when they wish to discuss matters of importance. Not as a function of the title—but because trust has been cultivated. Your influence will define how they perceive their child's education across one of five California locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, downtown San Francisco, La Jolla, or South Bay (Los Angeles).

Alpha is constructing a fundamentally different school model. Students complete core academic requirements in two hours daily using AI-powered platforms, dedicating remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and practical execution. No traditional lectures. No filler assignments. Top 1% national outcomes. Our families are sophisticated, well-connected, and frequently discerning. They demand rigorous thinking, not rehearsed responses.

You will steward that dialogue across time. Not only during enrollment, but throughout years. You will articulate AI with fluency—its mechanics, shortcomings, and significance—particularly with families who lead companies, fund them, or demand exactitude in all matters. If you lack capacity for that caliber of exchange, this role will present challenges. If you possess it, this becomes among the most intellectually stimulating positions in education.

This is not client management. This is sustained trust-building with ultra-high-net-worth families who require discretion, sound reasoning, and reliability. If that setting resonates with you—and you leverage AI daily to accelerate thinking, writing, and execution—the fit will be immediately apparent.

What you will be doing

  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for every family at your campus, cultivating trust that deepens continuously
  • Identify concerns proactively and address them with discretion, efficiency, and grounded judgment
  • Ensure consistent visibility during critical moments: morning arrivals, afternoon departures, and intentional parent gatherings
  • Facilitate ongoing, substantive dialogue regarding Alpha's AI-driven approach with highly analytical, technologically sophisticated families
  • Create and iterate on community programming that fosters connection, endorsement, and referral activity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your work starts once families have enrolled
  • Operating primarily from a desk or via email correspondence—this role demands in-person engagement
  • Using prepared scripts or avoiding direct questions about AI or educational philosophy
  • Depending on established protocols—you will design frameworks where none currently exist
  • Viewing families transactionally—success here depends on judgment, not task execution

Key responsibilities

Establish and maintain profound trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, driving long-term retention, ambassadorship, and sustained confidence in Alpha's AI-powered educational approach.

Candidate requirements

  • Residing in or able to commute daily to Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla, or Los Angeles
  • 5+ years of direct experience with UHNW individuals or families in contexts such as private schools, private equity, family offices, or premium client service settings
  • Demonstrated capability to manage sophisticated, high-stakes relationships with discretion and reliable judgment
  • Daily, active use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with capacity to articulate AI functionality, risks, and boundaries clearly
  • Commanding presence and communication approach that builds credibility with highly educated, demanding families
  • Professional or personal familiarity with private or independent school environments
  • Flexibility for early morning, late afternoon, and occasional evening or weekend commitments

Nice to have

  • Established connections within local private school or UHNW networks
  • Background working alongside founders, investors, or technology executives
  • History of designing communities or experiences that generate organic word-of-mouth referrals
  • Experience in early-stage or rapidly scaling organizations characterized by ambiguity
  • Skill in distilling complex technical ideas into clear, assured dialogue
