Director of Parent Engagement   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site: Palo Alto, Piedmont, or San Francisco, CA
  • $200,000/yr · Full-time salary
  • Benefits: Health, vision, dental, 401k, PTO, etc.

The families you serve don't require additional services. They require someone they trust implicitly.

This position anchors that trust. You will be the individual families turn to when something doesn't feel right, when they seek perspective, or when they wish to discuss what matters most. Not as a transactional obligation—but because you have established credibility. How you show up will define their experience across one of three Bay Area locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, or downtown San Francisco.

Alpha is constructing a fundamentally different school model. Students complete their core academics in two hours daily through AI-powered platforms, then dedicate the remainder of their day to public speaking, critical thinking, and practical execution. No traditional lectures. No unnecessary assignments. Outcomes in the top 1% nationally. Our families are informed, well-counseled, and frequently skeptical. They expect rigorous thinking, not rehearsed responses.

You will steward that dialogue over the long term. Not only during enrollment, but across multiple years. You will speak with fluency about AI—its mechanics, its weaknesses, and its significance—particularly with families who found companies, fund them, or demand exactness in every choice. If you cannot sustain that caliber of conversation, this role will prove demanding. If you can, it becomes among the most intellectually rewarding positions in education.

This is not traditional client relations. This is sustained trust-building with ultra-high-net-worth families who expect discretion, judgment, and reliability. If that setting feels natural—and you use AI daily to think, write, and execute more effectively—you will see the opportunity clearly.

What you will be doing

  • Take full ownership of every family relationship on campus, cultivating trust that strengthens over time
  • Identify and address concerns proactively with discretion, urgency, and informed judgment
  • Sustain high visibility at critical touchpoints: morning arrival, afternoon departure, and thoughtfully designed parent events
  • Facilitate ongoing, substantive discussions about Alpha's AI-driven approach with analytical, technology-fluent families
  • Develop and refine community touchpoints that foster belonging, advocacy, and organic referral activity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your attention begins once families are enrolled
  • Operating from behind a desk or communicating only via email—this requires consistent physical presence
  • Reciting talking points or avoiding difficult questions about AI or educational philosophy
  • Depending on established protocols—you will create structure where none currently exists
  • Viewing families as client accounts—this role values judgment over task execution

Key responsibilities

Establish and maintain enduring trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, securing long-term retention, advocacy, and unwavering confidence in Alpha's AI-powered educational approach.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in or capable of commuting daily to Palo Alto, Piedmont, or San Francisco
  • 5+ years of direct experience working with UHNW individuals or families in settings such as private schools, private equity, family offices, or elite client service roles
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage intricate, high-stakes relationships with discretion and informed judgment
  • Daily, active use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with the capability to articulate AI strengths, risks, and boundaries clearly
  • Compelling presence and communication approach that establishes credibility with highly educated, demanding families
  • Knowledge of private or independent school environments, gained either professionally or personally
  • Flexibility for early morning, late afternoon, and occasional evening or weekend commitments

Nice to have

  • Pre-existing connections within Bay Area private school or UHNW networks
  • Background working alongside founders, investors, or technology executives
  • Demonstrated success in creating communities or experiences that generate organic referrals
  • Experience in early-stage or rapidly scaling organizations where uncertainty is elevated
  • Capacity to distill complex technical ideas into clear, assured dialogue
