Director of Enrollment   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • Location: On-site in Palo Alto, Piedmont, or San Francisco, CA
  • Compensation: $200,000 annually · Full-time
  • Benefits: Comprehensive health, vision, dental, 401k, paid time off, and more

The families you serve don't require additional services. They require someone they trust implicitly.

This position anchors that trust. You will be the individual families turn to when intuition signals concern, when clarity is needed, or when meaningful moments arise. Not by title alone—but through credibility you establish. You will define how families experience their child's education across three Bay Area locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, or downtown San Francisco.

Alpha is constructing a fundamentally different school. Students finish core academics in two hours daily via AI-enabled platforms, dedicating remaining time to public speaking, critical reasoning, and practical application. No traditional lectures. No redundant assignments. Top 1% national performance. Families here are discerning, well-counseled, and frequently skeptical. They demand rigorous thinking, not rehearsed responses.

You will lead that dialogue continuously. Not only during enrollment, but throughout the years. You will articulate AI with fluency—its mechanics, constraints, and significance—particularly with families who lead companies, allocate capital, or demand precision at every turn. If you lack capacity for this depth of discourse, the role will feel burdensome. If you possess it, this becomes among the most intellectually rewarding positions in education.

This is not routine client management. This is sustained trust-building with ultra-high-net-worth families expecting discretion, discernment, and reliability. If this setting resonates—and you leverage AI tools daily to accelerate thinking, writing, and execution—the opportunity will be immediately apparent.

What you will be doing

  • Steward the complete relationship with each family on campus, cultivating trust that deepens progressively
  • Identify potential issues proactively and address them with discretion, urgency, and clear judgment
  • Sustain consistent presence during critical touchpoints: morning arrivals, afternoon departures, and thoughtfully designed parent gatherings
  • Facilitate ongoing, substantive dialogue about Alpha's AI-integrated model with analytically rigorous, technology-oriented families
  • Architect and iterate community experiences that foster belonging, endorsement, and sustained referral activity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your engagement commences after families enroll
  • Operating primarily from behind a desk or via email—this demands substantial in-person presence
  • Using scripted messaging or avoiding difficult questions regarding AI or educational philosophy
  • Depending on established processes—you will construct frameworks where none currently exist
  • Viewing families transactionally—this role values judgment over task execution

Key responsibilities

Establish and maintain profound trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, securing long-term retention, advocacy, and unwavering confidence in Alpha's AI-driven educational approach.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in or capable of daily commute to Palo Alto, Piedmont, or San Francisco
  • 5+ years engaging directly with UHNW individuals or families in contexts such as private schools, private equity, family offices, or premium client service settings
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage intricate, high-stakes relationships with discretion and sound reasoning
  • Daily, active use of AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with fluency to articulate AI strengths, vulnerabilities, and boundaries
  • Commanding presence and communication approach that establishes credibility with highly educated, exacting families
  • Knowledge of private or independent school environments, whether through professional experience or personal exposure
  • Flexibility for early morning, late afternoon, and occasional evening or weekend commitments

Nice to have

  • Pre-existing connections within Bay Area private school or UHNW networks
  • Background engaging with founders, investors, or technology executives
  • Proven success creating communities or experiences that generate organic word-of-mouth
  • History in early-stage or rapidly scaling organizations where ambiguity is common
  • Skill translating sophisticated technical subjects into clear, assured dialogue
