Especialista en Desarrollo Juvenil   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • Located on-site at Alpha School's Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Compensation: $100,000 annually ($50/hour, 40 hours weekly), paid each week
  • Teaching certification not required; fluency in Spanish is beneficial

The most meaningful support you can offer a student who reaches 99% of their goal is to refuse to accept it as finished. If that expectation feels uncomfortable, this position is not the right fit. If it energizes you—because upholding standards is your way of demonstrating belief in a child's capacity—continue reading.

Alpha School operates using the 2 Hour Learning framework: students in grades K-8 complete a full day's worth of academic content in approximately two hours using adaptive learning technology. There are no lectures or textbooks. Your role centers on what the software cannot deliver—guiding students through essential life skills including public speaking, concentration, collaboration, and constructive feedback exchange.

Approximately 60% of your time will be devoted to individualized motivation: reviewing learning app dashboards and Coachbot data, identifying where an eight-year-old struggles with fractions or a fifth grader resists reading assignments, then helping them break through. The remaining 40% involves facilitating interactive, hour-long workshops that resemble improv sessions more than traditional instruction. All students must demonstrate mastery via Test2Pass assessments before progressing.

This position offers clear advancement. You'll oversee a small cohort and become fluent in Alpha's methodology during your first year. Demonstrate that you can guide every student to 100% goal completion while maintaining strong satisfaction metrics, and a pathway emerges toward Lead Guide, then Campus Lead (where you oversee an entire school). You'll witness a child who avoided eye contact in September confidently present to a room of parents by spring.

Apply if you believe seating 30 children in rows to listen to a single adult undervalues what children are capable of achieving.

What you will be doing

  • Guiding K-8 students individually and in small groups through adaptive learning platforms, leveraging Coachbot analytics and dashboards to identify barriers and root causes
  • Implementing Alpha's motivation system (leaderboards, incentives, weekly goal-setting sessions) to ensure every student progresses at the target pace
  • Facilitating hour-long, experiential life-skills workshops focused on public speaking, focus, teamwork, and feedback exchange (project-driven and interactive, never lecture-based)
  • Overseeing Test2Pass mastery assessments and maintaining standards: students advance only when they demonstrate genuine understanding
  • Cultivating trust with students so that rigorous accountability feels empowering rather than punitive

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering lectures or traditional academic instruction (core subjects are learned through adaptive apps, not direct teaching from you)
  • Creating lesson plans from the ground up—Alpha supplies the curriculum and playbooks; your role is to animate them with energy and narrative
  • Grading homework assignments or preparing students for standardized testing; those elements do not exist in this model
  • Handling parent communication or school operations—Campus Leads manage those responsibilities, allowing you to concentrate on your cohort
  • Passively monitoring students on devices; active coaching is the core of this role

Key responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% of their academic and life-skills objectives.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to work on-site at Alpha's Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • 3+ years of direct, hands-on experience working with K-8 (kindergarten through 8th grade) students via teaching, tutoring, youth programs, camps, or sports coaching
  • Track record of high personal achievement in academic, athletic, or professional contexts
  • Capacity to lead groups of K-8 students through energetic, interactive workshop sessions
  • Proven ability to inspire young people to overcome obstacles and pursue ambitious objectives
  • Leadership presence and role-model conduct that balances rigorous standards with meaningful support
  • Authorization to work legally in the United States or Puerto Rico without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish to strengthen rapport with students and families in the Dorado area
  • Background in coaching environments where elevated standards produced measurable results (competitive athletics, debate, performing arts, or selective youth programs)
  • Experience leading youth workshops, summer camps, or after-school initiatives where you designed activities rather than simply supervised
  • Knowledge of adaptive or app-based learning tools (e.g., Khan Academy, IXL, DreamBox)
