Vice President Multi-Site Operations   $200,000 USD/year

Description

When you walk through a facility, you notice what others miss — the ceiling tile that's come loose but hasn't been reported, the HVAC return emitting a persistent whine for days, the landscaping contractor who completed only half the agreed scope yet submitted a full invoice. You don't wait for customer escalations. You resolve issues before they surface.

This capability defines the role. 2 Hour Learning runs premium K–12 facilities where families invest in an environment that remains secure, consistent, and presentation-ready every day — not merely during scheduled events. You will maintain that standard throughout the Northeast region: Manhattan serves as your primary location, supplemented by regular site visits to schools in CT, MA, and PA. Your execution determines whether a campus consistently delivers a premium experience or gradually deteriorates between leadership reviews.

Year one emphasizes establishing standards and restructuring vendor relationships — defining operational readiness, implementing audit protocols, transitioning underperforming vendors, and establishing repeatable operating rhythms for Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists. As the region expands and your framework matures, the position evolves toward sustained regional oversight: you become the operational authority the network relies on during new campus launches, emergency situations, or standard revisions.

This position requires extensive field presence. If you prefer dashboard-based management, this opportunity is not suitable. If you seek direct accountability for maintaining premium standards across 25+ schools — with the authority to execute — continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Executing scheduled on-site inspections across Northeast facilities against documented standards covering cleanliness, HVAC, safety, security, signage, landscaping, furniture, and presentation readiness — and converting audit findings into verified corrective actions
  • Prioritizing facilities issues and emergency situations, coordinating vendor response, and marking tickets resolved only after verifying completion (urgent items <24 hours, standard items <1 week)
  • Overseeing local vendor delivery against service level agreements, transitioning vendors who consistently underperform, renegotiating contract terms, and conducting direct accountability discussions regarding quality and cost
  • Establishing a weekly operational cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure consistent execution of standard procedures rather than ad hoc responses
  • Overseeing significant campus improvement projects (HVAC system updates, interior refreshes, landscaping, AV/networking infrastructure) on timeline and within budget, minimizing student disruption
  • Documenting enterprise standards and AI-powered procurement frameworks (leveraging ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance systems, and centralized sourcing) to ensure consistent campus launches and operations
  • Delivering concise weekly written updates on regional performance, vendor accountability, escalations, and capital expenditure variance

What you will NOT be doing

  • Operating remotely via dashboards — this position demands regular physical presence at the Manhattan location and 20–40% travel to regional facilities (CT, MA, PA)
  • Leading new campus design or ground-up construction projects — capital expansion responsibility resides with a separate team
  • Developing enterprise procurement strategy disconnected from field operations — your standards emerge from direct site observation
  • Working within clean organizational structures with direct authority over all contributors — you will establish accountability through documented clarity, written follow-through, and rejection of imprecise vendor commitments
  • Tolerating "presentation-ready only for leadership visits" as acceptable — recurring problems receive root cause analysis, not repeat ticketing
  • Operating primarily in reactive firefighting mode — the audit framework and predictive maintenance systems enable you to identify failures before they generate complaints

Key responsibilities

Maintain every campus in the Northeast region as secure, premium, and presentation-ready every day.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in New York City or within commutable range, prepared to work primarily from the Manhattan campus with 20–40% regional travel
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • 5+ years of experience managing multi-site facilities, regional operations, hospitality operations, retail operations, or school operations
  • Documented success holding vendor-managed services accountable for quality, cost, and SLA compliance across multiple sites
  • Hands-on experience resolving urgent facilities problems (safety, HVAC, security, cleanliness) with measurable impact on customer experience
  • Consistent written operational discipline: issue tracking, escalation documentation, vendor follow-up, weekly regional performance reports
  • Practical experience with contemporary operations platforms (ticketing systems, IoT/predictive maintenance, AI-supported procurement or planning)

Nice to have

  • Multi-site operations leadership in premium hospitality, luxury retail, private K–12, or healthcare organizations serving high-expectation clientele
  • Experience building or rehabilitating a regional operations framework where the previous model depended on individual heroics instead of documented standards
  • History of transitioning underperforming vendors and developing a reliable local vendor network
  • Experience managing capital improvement projects (HVAC, AV/networking, landscaping, interior upgrades) in occupied, customer-facing settings
  • Background operating in an AI-first environment where playbooks, dashboards, and predictive tools handle routine tasks so personnel concentrate on strategic judgment
