VP of Construction Management   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Opening one school is achievable for most operators. Opening many schools reliably, with increasing speed each time, is rare.

2 Hour Learning is establishing a nationwide school network engineered to deliver a complete day of instruction in two concentrated hours through AI. For this model to succeed, the pace and precision of expansion must match the product's rigor. This role is designed to deliver that outcome. You will control the entire lifecycle of new school sites—from undeveloped property to fully functioning campus—while creating the infrastructure that makes every subsequent launch faster, more efficient, and more reliable.

This is not a conventional development position. Your mandate is not simply to oversee projects. Your mandate is to remove obstacles from the expansion process. That requires decisive judgment on site feasibility, direct engagement with permitting and construction challenges, vendor negotiation, and timeline enforcement with a sense of urgency. Simultaneously, you will deconstruct each stage of the process into structured, AI-enabled workflows that minimize manual intervention and enhance forecasting precision over successive launches.

If you have managed real construction projects and are dissatisfied with slow execution, fragmented accountability, and recurring errors, this is your opportunity to solve those problems—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Render high-stakes site decisions by evaluating zoning, permitting, cost, and timeline viability through structured and AI-supported analysis
  • Manage multiple concurrent school construction projects, directing construction managers, clearing obstacles, and ensuring launches occur on time and within budget
  • Produce clear, actionable capital project proposals that bring stakeholders into alignment on scope, cost, and execution approach
  • Oversee vendor selection, RFP processes, and contract negotiation with emphasis on speed, quality, and cost discipline
  • Break down expansion workflows into discrete work components and construct AI-powered systems that shorten timelines and increase predictability

What you will NOT be doing

  • Functioning as a passive monitor who waits for status reports from contractors or external partners
  • Focusing narrowly on a single phase (such as site selection or construction alone) without accountability for the complete result
  • Depending on manual, improvised methods that must be reinvented for each new location
  • Escalating challenges without personally intervening to address permitting, design, or construction obstacles
  • Consuming extended periods on stakeholder alignment without pushing toward a definitive decision

Key responsibilities

Control the complete expansion process for new school locations by launching fully operational campuses on reliable schedules while systematically decreasing time, cost, and risk through AI-enabled systems.

Candidate requirements

  • Documented experience directing at least one real estate development or construction project from site selection to opening with complete ownership
  • Experience overseeing multiple simultaneous builds or capital projects with direct accountability for timelines, coordination, and problem resolution
  • Deep fluency in zoning, permitting, construction, and vendor management, with capability to engage directly with general contractors, architects, and regulatory authorities
  • Proven ability to make tradeoff decisions involving cost, timeline, and feasibility with clear, quantifiable results
  • Experience refining or organizing complex operational workflows (such as permitting, design coordination, or construction execution)
  • Proven capacity to decompose intricate workflows into structured, repeatable processes and enhance them iteratively
  • Track record of applying tools (AI or other technologies) to minimize manual effort, expedite decision-making, or boost execution velocity
  • Strong ownership orientation with ability to function effectively in ambiguous environments and produce tangible results
  • Willingness and capacity to travel up to 60% to active school sites nationwide and be present on-site during critical development and opening phases
  • Currently based in the US and authorized to work without visa sponsorship
