VP of Facilities Development   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Most school operators can launch a single location. Very few can replicate that process reliably, with increasing speed and precision each time.

2 Hour Learning is constructing a nationwide school network engineered to deliver a complete day's education in two concentrated hours through AI technology. This approach succeeds only when expansion mirrors the exactness of the educational product. This position was created to ensure that outcome. You will control the entire development cycle for new school sites—from undeveloped property to fully functional campus—while simultaneously creating systems that accelerate and refine each future launch.

This is not a conventional facilities development position. Your mandate is not simply to oversee projects. Your mandate is to remove obstacles from the expansion pathway. That requires decisive judgment on site suitability, direct engagement with permitting and construction challenges, vendor negotiation, and relentless timeline management. Concurrently, you will deconstruct each stage of this process into systematic, AI-enhanced workflows that minimize manual intervention and sharpen forecasting precision progressively.

If you have directed actual construction initiatives and find yourself limited by protracted schedules, disjointed accountability, and recurring errors, this role offers the opportunity to solve those problems—at national scale.

What you will be doing

  • Execute critical site evaluation decisions by confirming zoning compliance, permitting requirements, cost parameters, and timeline viability through structured, AI-supported analysis
  • Manage several school construction projects concurrently, directing construction managers, eliminating obstacles, and guaranteeing timely, budget-compliant openings
  • Create transparent, actionable capital project proposals that secure stakeholder alignment on scope, budget, and implementation approach
  • Direct vendor evaluation, RFP processes, and contract negotiations with emphasis on velocity, quality standards, and cost discipline
  • Break down expansion processes into discrete work components and construct AI-powered systems that reduce timelines and enhance predictability

What you will NOT be doing

  • Functioning as a detached project monitor dependent on status reports from contractors or external partners
  • Limiting your focus to a single development stage (such as site selection alone or construction alone) rather than controlling the complete result
  • Depending on improvised, manual methods that start from scratch with each new site
  • Referring issues upward without personally addressing permitting, design, or construction obstacles
  • Consuming extended periods building consensus without advancing toward a definitive decision

Key responsibilities

Control the complete expansion lifecycle for new school sites by delivering operational campuses on reliable schedules while systematically decreasing time, expenditure, and uncertainty through AI-enabled systems.

Candidate requirements

  • Verified experience directing at least one real estate development or construction initiative from site identification through launch with complete ownership
  • Experience overseeing multiple simultaneous builds or capital projects with direct accountability for schedules, coordination, and problem resolution
  • Deep proficiency in zoning regulations, permitting processes, construction management, and vendor coordination, with capability to work directly with general contractors, architects, and regulatory authorities
  • Proven capacity to make tradeoff decisions balancing cost, schedule, and feasibility with clear, quantifiable results
  • Experience refining or organizing complex operational processes (such as permitting workflows, design coordination, construction delivery)
  • Proven ability to decompose intricate workflows into systematic, replicable frameworks and enhance them continuously
  • Track record of leveraging tools (AI-based or otherwise) to minimize manual effort, expedite decision-making, or boost execution velocity
  • Strong ownership orientation with capability to function amid ambiguity and produce tangible outcomes
  • Willingness and capacity to travel up to 60% to operational school sites throughout the US and maintain on-site presence during pivotal development and opening phases
  • Currently based in the US and authorized to work without visa sponsorship
