Field Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction roles expect you to execute someone else's plan. This one requires you to take ownership of the schedule—and recover it when conditions shift.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide network of microschools engineered to compress a full day of instruction into two hours through AI. Delivering on that promise requires speed and precision in physical execution. Every permitting bottleneck, every misstep in trade sequencing, every breakdown in coordination slows growth. This position is designed to prevent those failures and transform construction into a reliable, scalable process.

You will work directly in the field, driving builds forward. Managing contractors. Maintaining schedules. Resolving sequencing conflicts before they cascade into delays. You will also deploy AI and digital systems to eliminate redundant tasks, increase transparency, and shorten cycles. This is active, not reactive, project management. You are the person who intervenes when timelines drift and restores momentum.

If you have worked near construction but found yourself limited by poor coordination, weak follow-through, or endless crisis management, this is your opportunity to build it correctly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, collaborating directly with contractors to ensure tasks are completed in proper sequence and according to schedule
  • Take full ownership of project timelines, monitoring key milestones, surfacing risks proactively, and implementing corrective measures when slippage occurs
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor progress across multiple active sites
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing reviewer feedback, and aligning stakeholders to advance approvals
  • Integrate AI-driven tools to streamline planning, documentation, and decision workflows, minimizing manual overhead and increasing delivery velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Observing dashboards remotely without stepping in to correct schedule drift
  • Overseeing projects from a high altitude without engaging with field conditions and trade dependencies
  • Depending on legacy, manual methods for tracking work or coordinating teams
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or stakeholders when timelines are threatened
  • Delaying action while waiting for complete data before addressing emerging problems

Key responsibilities

Lead the timely completion of school construction projects by directing on-site coordination, maintaining schedule discipline, and enhancing speed and reliability through the application of digital tools and AI.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on experience in construction delivery (field coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to articulate a specific project, your involvement, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Demonstrated ownership or coordination of a project schedule, including developing timelines, monitoring milestones, and enforcing due dates, with at least one case of addressing a delay or variance
  • Competence with at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Familiarity with construction trade sequencing and the capacity to explain a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical understanding of permitting workflows (submissions, reviews, revisions, authority interactions) with direct participation in at least one cycle
  • Proven use of AI tools to expedite concrete work tasks, including a specific example of the tool, the output it produced, and your validation method
  • Ability and readiness to be present on-site at least 3 days per week, with approximately 60% travel throughout the United States driven by project requirements
  • Based in the United States and eligible to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with rapid-growth or fast-turnaround construction environments where schedules are tightly compressed
  • Motivation to enhance construction workflows through automation or process standardization
