Field Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction project roles involve plan execution. This position requires you to take ownership of the schedule—and correct it when circumstances disrupt it.

2 Hour Learning is expanding a nationwide microschool network built to provide a complete day of education in two hours through AI. This model relies on rapid, accurate real-world execution. Each permitting delay, every on-site sequencing error, and each missed coordination point slows growth. This position is designed to prevent those breakdowns and transform construction into a reliable, replicable process.

You will work on the ground to deliver builds. Managing contractors. Maintaining schedules. Addressing sequencing problems before they escalate into delays. Concurrently, you will leverage AI and digital platforms to minimize manual tasks, enhance transparency, and drive faster completion. This is active, not passive, project management. You are the individual who intervenes when schedules drift and restores them to target.

If you have worked near construction but found yourself limited by weak coordination, insufficient accountability, or continuous crisis management, this represents an opportunity to lead execution correctly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, engaging directly with contractors to ensure tasks are completed in proper sequence and according to schedule
  • Take ownership of project schedules, monitoring key milestones, detecting risks proactively, and implementing corrective measures when setbacks arise
  • Utilize platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor progress across live construction sites
  • Assist permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing reviewer feedback, and coordinating with relevant parties to advance approvals
  • Deploy AI-based tools to speed up planning, record-keeping, and decision processes, cutting down on manual workload and increasing delivery velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Observing dashboards passively while tracking status without stepping in when timelines begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects solely from a strategic level without engaging with field realities and sequencing challenges
  • Depending on legacy, manual methods to monitor progress or communicate with project teams
  • Sidestepping challenging discussions with contractors or stakeholders when schedule adherence is threatened
  • Delaying action to address problems while waiting for complete or ideal information

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time delivery of school construction projects by leading on-site coordination, maintaining schedule adherence, and enhancing speed and reliability through digital tools and AI applications.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on experience in construction delivery (site coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the capacity to describe a particular project, your specific role, and your approach to execution obstacles
  • Proven experience managing or coordinating a project schedule, including building timelines, monitoring milestones, and enforcing due dates, with at least one instance of addressing a delay or schedule change
  • Competency with at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the capability to detail how you applied it on an actual project
  • Familiarity with construction trade sequencing and the ability to recall a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical knowledge of permitting procedures (submissions, reviews, revisions, AHJ engagement) with direct participation in at least one permit process
  • Documented application of AI tools to expedite actual work tasks, including a specific example of the tool employed, the output it produced, and your validation method
  • Capacity and readiness to be present on-site at least 3 days per week, with roughly 60% travel throughout the United States depending on project requirements
  • Based in the United States and authorized for employment without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background managing multiple simultaneous construction projects
  • Familiarity with rapid or high-growth construction environments where schedules are heavily accelerated
  • Motivation to enhance construction workflows through automation or process standardization
