Commercial Construction Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Traditional construction roles place you inside a plan. This position requires you to control the schedule—and restore it when circumstances derail it.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide microschool network engineered to compress a full day of education into two hours through AI-driven instruction. This model relies on execution speed and accuracy in physical environments. Permitting bottlenecks, site sequencing errors, and coordination breakdowns directly slow growth. This role is designed to prevent those breakdowns and transform construction into a reliable, scalable process.

Your work will happen on the ground, driving builds forward. You will manage contractor relationships. Maintain scheduling discipline. Anticipate and resolve sequencing problems before they create delays. Simultaneously, you will leverage AI and digital platforms to minimize manual overhead, increase transparency, and improve delivery speed. This is active project leadership. You are the individual who intervenes when timelines drift and restores momentum.

If you have operated near construction but been held back by weak coordination, inconsistent accountability, or reactive problem-solving, this is an opportunity to lead with clarity and precision—at national scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage day-to-day construction activities on-site, collaborating directly with contractors to ensure proper sequencing and adherence to schedule
  • Maintain control of project schedules, monitoring key milestones, detecting risks proactively, and implementing corrective measures when timelines are threatened
  • Utilize platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor progress across multiple active projects
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing review feedback, and aligning stakeholders to advance approvals
  • Integrate AI-powered tools to streamline planning, documentation, and decision workflows, cutting manual workload and accelerating project delivery

What you will NOT be doing

  • Observing project dashboards from a distance without stepping in when schedules begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects at a strategic level only, disconnected from field realities and construction sequencing challenges
  • Depending on legacy or manual methods for tracking work or engaging with project teams
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or stakeholders when deadlines are jeopardized
  • Delaying action on problems while waiting for complete information

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time delivery of school construction projects by leading on-site coordination, maintaining schedule discipline, and enhancing execution speed and reliability using digital tools and AI.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on experience in construction delivery (field coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the capability to detail a specific project, your responsibilities, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Proven ownership or coordination of a project schedule, including building timelines, monitoring milestones, and maintaining deadline accountability, with at least one example of managing a delay or scope change
  • Working proficiency in at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Familiarity with construction trade sequencing and ability to explain a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical knowledge of permitting processes (submissions, reviews, revisions, AHJ coordination) with firsthand participation in at least one cycle
  • Verified use of AI tools to expedite real-world tasks, with a concrete example of the tool employed, output produced, and method of validation
  • Capacity and readiness to be present on-site at least 3 days per week, with approximately 60% travel throughout the United States depending on project requirements
  • Based in the United States and eligible to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Experience in accelerated or high-growth construction environments with compressed delivery timelines
  • Motivation to refine construction workflows through automation or process improvement
