Commercial Construction Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction project managers track schedules. This role requires you to control them—and recover them when circumstances disrupt progress.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide microschool network that delivers a complete day of education in two hours through AI. Success depends on rapid, precise execution in the field. Every permitting holdup, every on-site sequencing error, every coordination gap slows growth. This position exists to remove those bottlenecks and make construction a reliable, scalable process.

You will work on-site to drive project completion. Managing contractors. Holding schedules. Resolving sequencing conflicts before they cause setbacks. Simultaneously, you will leverage AI and digital systems to cut manual overhead, increase transparency, and speed delivery. This is active, hands-on management. You are the one who intervenes when schedules drift and restores momentum.

If you have construction experience but have been held back by disorganized coordination, weak follow-through, or endless reactive problem-solving, this is your opportunity to lead execution properly—and at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, collaborating directly with contractors to ensure tasks are completed in proper sequence and according to schedule
  • Take ownership of project timelines, monitoring key milestones, spotting risks proactively, and implementing corrective measures when delays arise
  • Utilize platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and track progress on live construction sites
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing feedback, and coordinating with relevant parties to advance approvals
  • Deploy AI technologies to streamline planning, recordkeeping, and decision-making, cutting down on manual tasks and enhancing execution velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards passively without stepping in when project timelines begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects from a distance without engaging with field conditions and sequencing realities
  • Depending on legacy, manual methods to monitor work or coordinate with project teams
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or stakeholders when schedule risks emerge
  • Delaying action on problems while waiting for complete information

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-schedule delivery of school construction projects by directly managing field coordination, holding teams accountable to schedules, and increasing speed and reliability through digital tools and AI.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on construction experience (field coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to detail a specific project, your responsibilities, and how you addressed execution obstacles
  • Experience taking ownership of or coordinating a project schedule, including building timelines, monitoring milestones, and holding teams to deadlines, with at least one example of addressing a schedule slip or scope change
  • Proficiency in at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the capability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Experience with construction trade sequencing and the ability to explain a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical understanding of permitting processes (submissions, reviews, revisions, interactions with authorities having jurisdiction) with firsthand involvement in at least one cycle
  • Proven application of AI tools to speed up real work activities, including a concrete example of the tool employed, the output it produced, and how you verified accuracy
  • Availability and readiness to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, with roughly 60% travel throughout the United States depending on project demands
  • Based in the United States and legally authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Background in fast-moving or high-growth construction settings where schedules are tightly compressed
  • Desire to enhance construction workflows through automation or process improvement
