Commercial Construction Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Traditional construction roles require following a pre-set plan. This position demands ownership of the timeline—and the ability to correct it when circumstances disrupt it.

2 Hour Learning is expanding a nationwide microschool network built to deliver a complete day of education in two hours through AI. This model relies on execution speed and accuracy in physical environments. Permitting delays, on-site sequencing errors, and poor handoffs between teams all slow growth. This role is designed to prevent those breakdowns and transform construction into a consistent, scalable process.

You will be in the field driving builds forward. Managing contractor teams. Maintaining schedules. Addressing sequencing problems before they cause delays. Simultaneously, you will leverage AI and digital platforms to minimize manual tasks, increase transparency, and speed up delivery. This is active, not passive, project management. You are the one who intervenes when timelines drift and restores them to plan.

If you have worked near construction but been held back by weak coordination, limited accountability, or endless reactive problem-solving, this is your opportunity to take ownership and execute correctly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, collaborating directly with contractors to ensure work proceeds in proper sequence and meets deadlines
  • Take ownership of project timelines, monitor key milestones, spot risks before they materialize, and implement corrective measures when delays arise
  • Employ platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, manage documentation, and track progress across multiple active projects
  • Assist with permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing reviewer comments, and coordinating with relevant parties to advance approvals
  • Integrate AI tools into planning, documentation, and decision workflows to cut manual workload and enhance execution velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards passively without stepping in when schedules begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects from a distance without grasping on-site conditions and sequencing dependencies
  • Depending on legacy, manual methods for tracking work or communicating with field teams
  • Dodging tough discussions with contractors or stakeholders when deadlines are in jeopardy
  • Delaying action until complete information is available while issues worsen

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time delivery of school construction projects by managing on-site coordination, maintaining schedule discipline, and enhancing speed and reliability through technology and AI integration.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on construction execution experience (including on-site coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the capability to detail a specific project, your responsibilities, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Background in owning or supporting a project schedule, including developing timelines, monitoring milestones, and maintaining deadlines, with at least one instance of addressing a delay or timeline change
  • Competence with at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the ability to discuss its application on an actual project
  • Familiarity with construction trade sequencing and the capacity to outline a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical knowledge of permitting procedures (submissions, reviews, revisions, interactions with authorities having jurisdiction) with firsthand participation in at least one cycle
  • Proven application of AI tools to speed up actual work activities, including a concrete example of the tool employed, the output produced, and how accuracy was confirmed
  • Capacity and willingness to be present on-site at least 3 days per week, with travel approximately 60% of the time across the United States depending on project requirements
  • Based in the United States and eligible to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Experience in fast-moving or high-growth construction settings where schedules are significantly condensed
  • Motivation to refine construction workflows through automation or process standardization
