Construction Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction project managers are expected to follow a predefined plan. This position requires you to take ownership of the timeline—and recover it when real-world conditions disrupt it.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide network of microschools engineered to compress a full day of learning into two hours through AI. This model relies on execution speed and precision on the ground. Each permitting delay, every on-site sequencing error, and any missed handoff slows our expansion. This role is designed to prevent those breakdowns and transform construction into a reliable, scalable system.

You will work on-site to ensure builds move forward. You will coordinate contractors, enforce timelines, and address sequencing challenges before they create delays. Simultaneously, you will leverage AI and digital platforms to minimize manual effort, enhance visibility, and speed up delivery. This is active project management. You are the person who intervenes when schedules drift and restores momentum.

If you have worked near construction but felt held back by poor coordination, weak accountability, or recurring crises, this is your opportunity to take charge and execute correctly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations by working directly with contractors to ensure work proceeds in correct sequence and stays on schedule
  • Take ownership of project schedules, monitor key milestones, spot risks ahead of time, and implement corrective measures when timelines are threatened
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor progress across live construction sites
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing reviewer feedback, and coordinating with relevant parties to advance approvals
  • Deploy AI solutions to streamline planning, documentation, and decision workflows, cutting manual workload and boosting execution velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards passively without stepping in when project timelines begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects from a purely strategic level without engaging with field realities and sequencing logistics
  • Depending on legacy manual methods to monitor progress or maintain team communication
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or stakeholders when deadlines are in jeopardy
  • Delaying action on issues while waiting for complete information

Key responsibilities

Lead the timely completion of school construction projects by managing on-site coordination, holding teams to schedules, and increasing speed and consistency using digital tools and AI.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on experience in construction delivery (on-site coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to detail a specific project, your responsibilities, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Proven ability to own or coordinate a project schedule, including building timelines, monitoring milestones, and enforcing deadlines, with at least one example of responding to a delay or schedule change
  • Competence with at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Understanding of construction trade sequencing and the ability to recount a scenario where sequencing choices affected the project schedule
  • Practical knowledge of permitting procedures (submissions, reviews, revisions, AHJ coordination) with direct participation in at least one permitting cycle
  • Documented use of AI tools to speed up real work activities, including a specific example of the tool applied, the output produced, and how accuracy was confirmed
  • Readiness and capacity to work on-site at least 3 days per week, with roughly 60% travel throughout the United States depending on project requirements
  • Currently located in the United States and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Experience in fast-moving or high-growth construction settings where schedules are tightly compressed
  • Enthusiasm for refining construction workflows through automation or process improvement
