Construction Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

In most construction roles, you follow the plan someone else created. In this one, you own the schedule—and you restore it when circumstances disrupt it.

2 Hour Learning is building a national network of microschools that deliver a complete day of education in just two hours through AI. That vision relies on rapid, accurate execution in the physical world. Each permitting bottleneck, each on-site sequencing error, each dropped coordination slows growth. This role is designed to remove those obstacles and transform construction into a reliable, scalable system.

You will work directly on-site to drive builds forward. Managing contractors. Holding teams to deadlines. Addressing sequencing problems before they cascade into delays. You will also leverage AI and digital platforms to cut down on manual overhead, increase transparency, and speed up delivery. This is active, hands-on project management. You are the person who intervenes when schedules drift and brings them back on track.

If you've worked near construction and been frustrated by weak coordination, lack of accountability, or endless reactive problem-solving, this is your opportunity to take ownership and execute it properly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction activities, interfacing directly with contractors to confirm work follows the correct sequence and meets schedule commitments
  • Take ownership of project timelines, monitoring milestones, surfacing risks proactively, and implementing corrective measures when slippage occurs
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor progress across live projects
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing review feedback, and coordinating among stakeholders to advance approvals
  • Deploy AI tools to streamline planning, documentation, and decision workflows, minimizing manual effort and enhancing execution velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards from a distance without stepping in when project timelines begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects from a high level without engaging with field realities or sequencing trade-offs
  • Using legacy, manual methods to track work or communicate status with project teams
  • Sidestepping challenging discussions with contractors or stakeholders when schedule pressure mounts
  • Delaying action on emerging issues while waiting for complete information

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time delivery of school construction projects by directly managing field coordination, holding teams accountable to schedules, and accelerating execution through digital tools and AI.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on experience in construction delivery (field coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to detail a specific project, your responsibilities, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Experience managing or coordinating a project schedule, including building timelines, monitoring milestones, and enforcing deadlines, with at least one example of addressing a delay or variance
  • Proficiency in at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Knowledge of construction trade sequencing and the ability to recount a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical familiarity with permitting processes (submissions, reviews, revisions, AHJ engagement) with direct participation in at least one cycle
  • Proven application of AI tools to speed up tangible work tasks, including a concrete example of the tool employed, outputs produced, and validation method used
  • Availability and willingness to be on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, with travel approximately 60% of the time across the United States depending on project demands
  • Based in the United States and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Background in fast-moving or high-growth construction environments with compressed delivery schedules
  • Motivation to enhance construction workflows through automation or process standardization
