Construction Project Lead   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction positions require you to execute a plan. This one requires you to control the schedule—and recover it when conditions disrupt it.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide microschool network engineered to compress a full day of education into two hours through AI. That approach relies on execution speed and accuracy in physical environments. Each permitting holdup, each on-site sequencing error, each incomplete handoff delays growth. This role is designed to prevent those breakdowns and convert construction into a reliable, scalable system.

You will be on-site driving builds forward. Managing contractors. Maintaining schedules. Resolving sequencing conflicts before they cause setbacks. Simultaneously, you will leverage AI and digital platforms to minimize manual processes, enhance transparency, and increase pace. This is not observational project oversight. You are the person who intervenes when schedules fall behind and restores forward momentum.

If you have worked near construction but have been held back by poor coordination, insufficient accountability, or recurring emergencies, this is your opportunity to assume control and execute correctly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, engaging directly with contractors to confirm work is completed in proper sequence and according to schedule
  • Control and enforce project schedules, monitoring milestones, flagging risks in advance, and implementing corrective measures when delays arise
  • Deploy tools such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, documentation, and status updates across live construction sites
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing reviewer feedback, and coordinating with authorities to advance approvals
  • Integrate AI tools to streamline planning, record-keeping, and decision-making, cutting manual workload and boosting execution velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Operating behind a dashboard observing status changes without acting when schedules begin to drift
  • Overseeing projects at a conceptual level without engaging with field conditions and sequencing limitations
  • Depending on legacy, manual methods to monitor progress or coordinate with teams
  • Sidestepping challenging discussions with contractors or stakeholders when timelines are in jeopardy
  • Delaying action to address problems while waiting for complete information

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time completion of school construction projects by directly managing field coordination, maintaining schedules, and increasing speed and consistency through technology and AI.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on experience in construction delivery (field coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to reference a particular project, your responsibilities, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Experience managing or coordinating a project schedule, including building timelines, monitoring milestones, and upholding deadlines, with at least one instance of addressing a delay or variance
  • Competence with at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the capacity to describe its application on an actual project
  • Experience with construction trade sequencing and the ability to outline a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical knowledge of permitting procedures (submissions, reviews, revisions, AHJ coordination) with firsthand participation in at least one cycle
  • Proven use of AI tools to expedite actual work activities, including a specific example of the tool applied, output produced, and how accuracy was confirmed
  • Availability and capability to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, with roughly 60% travel throughout the United States depending on project requirements
  • Based in the United States and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous construction projects
  • Background in accelerated or high-growth construction settings where schedules are significantly compressed
  • Motivation to enhance construction workflows through automation or standardization
