Tenant Improvement Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Construction roles typically ask you to execute against a plan. This position requires you to control the schedule—and recover it when circumstances derail it.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide microschool network engineered to compress a full learning day into two hours through AI. That approach relies on execution speed and accuracy in physical environments. Each permitting holdup, each on-site sequencing error, each dropped coordination point delays growth. This role is designed to remove those breakdowns and transform construction into a reliable, scalable process.

You will work on-site to drive builds forward. Managing contractors. Maintaining schedules. Anticipating sequencing conflicts before they cause setbacks. Simultaneously, you will deploy AI and digital systems to cut manual overhead, increase transparency, and speed delivery. This is not reactive oversight. You are the individual who intervenes when timelines drift and restores momentum.

If you have been involved in construction but held back by weak coordination, lack of accountability, or endless crisis management, this is your opportunity to lead execution correctly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction coordination, engaging directly with contractors to ensure sequencing is correct and work stays on schedule
  • Control and enforce project schedules, monitoring milestones, surfacing risks proactively, and executing corrective measures when slippage occurs
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor progress across live projects
  • Advance permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing reviewer feedback, and coordinating across stakeholders to expedite approvals
  • Deploy AI-driven tools to speed up planning, documentation, and decision workflows, minimizing manual labor and increasing execution velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards passively and failing to act when schedules begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects at high altitude without engaging with field conditions and sequencing realities
  • Depending on legacy manual methods for tracking status or coordinating with teams
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or partners when delivery dates are threatened
  • Delaying decisions until all uncertainty is resolved rather than acting to mitigate issues

Key responsibilities

Ensure timely delivery of school construction projects by directly managing site-level coordination, maintaining schedule discipline, and enhancing execution speed and consistency using digital tools and AI.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on experience in construction delivery (site coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to detail a specific project, your involvement, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Proven ownership or coordination of a project schedule, including developing timelines, monitoring key milestones, and holding deadlines accountable, with at least one instance of addressing a schedule disruption
  • Competence in at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the capacity to articulate its application on an actual project
  • Familiarity with construction trade sequencing and the ability to recount a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical understanding of permitting procedures (submissions, plan reviews, revisions, authority interactions) with firsthand participation in at least one cycle
  • Confirmed application of AI tools to expedite tangible work activities, including a concrete example of the tool employed, output produced, and validation method used
  • Availability and willingness to work on-site at least 3 days per week, with roughly 60% travel throughout the United States depending on project requirements
  • Based in the United States and authorized for employment without need for visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with accelerated or high-growth construction settings where schedules are tightly compressed
  • Motivation to refine construction workflows through automation or process standardization
