SVP of Operations   $400,000 USD/year

Description

You've proven your ability to deliver operational excellence by being the strongest operator in your environment. You understand how to maintain a disciplined facility, correct deficiencies, and personally uphold rigorous standards. This position demands something more complex.

You will oversee a team of VPs accountable for sustaining 35+ premium campuses. Not by executing the work yourself. By architecting the systems, establishing the quality thresholds, and cultivating the leaders who implement them. Your success will be measured not by your individual contributions — but by whether the team consistently achieves green status across every campus without requiring your input.

The operational framework is not yet in place. You will architect AI-enabled dashboards that identify issues before VPs must search for them, structures that make quality expectations enforceable without continuous supervision, and accountability models that enable VPs to manage 7+ campuses each without losing precision. When the system functions correctly, the indicators are unmistakable: escalations diminish, audits return without findings, and the team operates independently of your presence.

The trajectory is well-defined. Year one focuses on construction — dashboards, operational playbooks, vendor performance monitoring systems, and quality standards developed from the ground up. After systems are operational and VPs function autonomously, your focus evolves: portfolio-wide CapEx strategy, succession planning for the leadership team, and optimization initiatives that elevate performance simultaneously across all 35+ campuses.

If you are prepared to lead the team responsible for maintaining premium standards across an expanding campus portfolio at scale, submit your application now.

What you will be doing

  • Overseeing, developing, and directing a team of VPs, each responsible for sustain operations across 7+ campuses (standard footprint) or 3+ campuses (large facilities), with defined performance indicators and consistent coaching
  • Architecting AI-enabled operational infrastructure — predictive maintenance dashboards, vendor performance monitoring systems, and portfolio-wide operational playbooks — that allow VPs to manage their portfolios without escalation
  • Establishing quantifiable quality standards and service level agreements for all facility performance indicators, then executing regular portfolio audits to enforce compliance and address deficiencies before they impact students or staff
  • Executing portfolio-level resource deployment decisions: VP assignments, vendor strategy formulation, and CapEx prioritization in collaboration with business and finance partners
  • Detecting and addressing VP performance deficiencies proactively through data-informed assessments and coaching, cultivating a team that achieves green status independently

What you will NOT be doing

  • Executing campus operations directly — your VPs manage field-level work; your responsibility is the infrastructure and team that produce outcomes
  • Serving as the default escalation channel for every issue — properly designed systems and empowered VPs remove the "consult the SVP" dependencies that deplete ops leaders at this level
  • Addressing challenges on a site-by-site basis — every framework, quality threshold, and solution you develop applies universally across all 35+ locations, not only the immediate situation
  • Limiting your influence to a small cluster of facilities — every system, standard, and accountability model you construct scales across 35+ campuses immediately
  • Creating bespoke solutions repeatedly — after playbooks are established, VPs implement them; you refine based on portfolio-level analytics, not isolated campus emergencies

Key responsibilities

Oversee a team of VPs to sustain uniform quality standards across a 35+ campus portfolio through scalable infrastructure and disciplined performance management.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the United States, with legal authorization to work without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Available and prepared to travel 35–50% to U.S. campuses for team oversight, audits, and strategic management
  • Background in facilities, operations, or multi-site management with a minimum of 3+ years directing a team of managers or VPs
  • Proven history of designing operational systems and frameworks that allowed a team to scale across 10+ locations
  • Track record of defining quantifiable quality standards and maintaining team accountability through data-informed performance management
  • Direct experience utilizing AI and automation technologies (including GPT, Airtable, Retool, or Zapier) to construct operational systems or manage team processes
  • Background managing CapEx budgets and executing resource deployment decisions across a multi-site portfolio

Nice to have

  • Experience in premium multi-site contexts with exacting facility standards — luxury hospitality, UHNW residential operations, flagship retail, or private K-12 education
  • Background guiding a team through a build-to-operate evolution: transitioning a portfolio from informal practices to systematized, scalable methodologies
  • Previous position as regional director of operations, director of facilities, or equivalent, with responsibility for both team outcomes and system architecture across 10+ locations
