Multi-Site Facilities Manager   $200,000 USD/year

Description

You visit a campus and immediately identify what's wrong — the ceiling tile that's come loose but hasn't been reported, the HVAC unit that's been making noise all week, the landscaping contractor who completed only half the checklist yet submitted a full invoice. You don't wait for complaints. You resolve issues before anyone realizes there was a problem.

That awareness defines this role. 2 Hour Learning runs premium K–12 facilities where families expect an environment that remains safe, reliable, and inspection-ready every single day — not only during scheduled events. You'll maintain that expectation throughout Central Texas: Austin serves as your home base, with consistent travel to schools across the area. Your efforts determine whether a campus maintains its premium feel or quietly deteriorates between leadership reviews.

Year one focuses heavily on establishing standards and cleaning up vendor relationships — defining what "ready" means, creating the inspection schedule, removing underperforming vendors, and training Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists on consistent operating procedures. Once the region expands and your systems are proven, the role transitions to sustained regional oversight: you become the expert the organization relies on during new campus launches, emergency situations, or when standards require revision.

This position requires fieldwork. If you prefer dashboard-based management, this isn't the right fit. If you want direct responsibility for ensuring 25+ schools maintain premium standards daily — and the authority to deliver that outcome — continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Performing scheduled site inspections across Central Texas locations using documented criteria for cleanliness, HVAC systems, safety protocols, security measures, signage, landscaping, furniture condition, and inspection readiness — and converting observations into confirmed corrective measures
  • Responding to facilities problems and urgent situations, coordinating service providers, and closing work orders only after confirming resolution (urgent issues within 24 hours, standard requests within one week)
  • Overseeing local contractor performance against service agreements, removing contractors who consistently fail to deliver, renegotiating contract terms, and conducting direct conversations about quality and pricing accountability
  • Establishing a weekly operational cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure uniform procedures across all campuses, eliminating reliance on individual heroics
  • Managing significant campus improvement projects (HVAC system updates, interior redesigns, landscaping enhancements, AV and network installations) while maintaining timelines, budgets, and minimal student impact
  • Documenting organization-wide standards and AI-supported procurement processes (utilizing ticketing platforms, IoT and predictive maintenance systems, and centralized vendor sourcing) to ensure consistent campus launches and operations
  • Delivering concise weekly written updates covering regional quality metrics, contractor performance, escalated issues, and capital expenditure tracking

What you will NOT be doing

  • Operating remotely from a computer — this position demands frequent on-site presence in Austin plus 20–40% travel to regional campuses throughout Central Texas
  • Creating new campus designs from the ground up or managing new construction projects — capital development belongs to a separate team
  • Establishing company-wide procurement policies without field-based validation — your standards emerge from direct site experience
  • Working within established reporting structures with direct authority over all personnel affecting your work — you'll create accountability through transparent communication, documented follow-through, and rejection of ambiguous contractor schedules
  • Treating "inspection-ready only during leadership visits" as acceptable — persistent problems require root cause analysis, not repeated work orders
  • Operating in constant crisis mode — the inspection schedule and predictive maintenance systems exist to identify problems before they generate complaints

Key responsibilities

Maintain every campus throughout the Central Texas region in a safe, premium, and inspection-ready condition daily.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the Austin, TX metropolitan area or within commuting range, prepared to work primarily from the Austin campus with 20–40% travel throughout the region
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • 5+ years managing multi-location facilities, regional operations, hospitality management, retail operations, or educational facility operations
  • Documented success managing vendor-provided services for quality, cost control, and service level compliance across multiple sites
  • Hands-on experience addressing urgent facility concerns (safety hazards, HVAC failures, security issues, cleanliness problems) with measurable effects on customer experience
  • Consistent written operational practices: problem tracking, escalation documentation, vendor communications, weekly regional status reporting
  • Confirmed experience with contemporary operations technology (work order systems, IoT and predictive maintenance platforms, AI-enhanced procurement or planning tools)

Nice to have

  • Multi-location operations leadership in premium hospitality environments, high-end retail, private K–12 education, or healthcare systems serving demanding clientele
  • Experience building or repairing a regional operations framework where previous approaches depended on individual heroics instead of documented standards
  • Proven history of terminating underperforming contractors and developing a reliable local vendor network
  • Experience directing capital improvement initiatives (HVAC systems, AV and network infrastructure, landscaping, interior updates) in active, customer-facing facilities
  • Background operating in an AI-driven environment where automated playbooks, dashboards, and predictive tools handle routine tasks, allowing people to concentrate on strategic decisions
