Regulatory Operations Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This role isn't about paperwork — it's about getting schools open.

2 Hour Learning is reengineering how education works. Our approach condenses a traditional school day into two hours of AI-powered, personalized instruction, freeing students to spend the rest of their time developing practical, real-world abilities instead of sitting through lectures. But none of that innovation matters until a school actually opens — with permits approved, inspections passed, and doors unlocked on schedule. That's your mission.

You won't be drafting policy memos or managing from behind a desk. Instead, you'll be in the field (and often traveling), converting signed leases into operational campuses: identifying local permit pathways, speaking with code enforcement officers, securing necessary approvals, aligning contractor schedules, and deploying AI tools to accelerate timelines in ways most people didn't think possible. You'll collaborate directly with experienced operators and construction crews — not from an office, but from live construction sites and municipal buildings, creating outcomes you can proudly claim: "That campus opened on time because I made it happen."

This position is designed for someone who learns quickly and wants more than a resume line. You'll deliver meaningful results, assume responsibility from day one, and advance rapidly. If you thrive on transforming disorder into organized plans and phone calls into signed approvals, let's talk.

What you will be doing

  • Investigating jurisdiction-specific regulations and converting bureaucratic complexity into actionable steps using AI tools and authoritative sources
  • Compiling and filing accurate, complete documentation — including licenses, inspection requests, and exemption applications — then monitoring them through to approval
  • Engaging with municipal clerks, coordinating contractor activities, and ensuring construction schedules stay synchronized with regulatory deadlines
  • Maintaining tracking systems and dashboards so the team has real-time visibility into completed tasks, blockers, and upcoming actions
  • Traveling 3–4 days per week to cities across the United States to advance school opening projects in person

What you will NOT be doing

  • Guessing at compliance rules from your desk — you'll confirm everything through primary, official sources
  • Waiting for instructions before taking your next action — this role requires self-direction, not dependency
  • Drafting generic boilerplate text — we leverage AI to accelerate precision, not to produce filler
  • Spending your time on theoretical planning — this is hands-on execution with firm deadlines and tangible outcomes
  • Endlessly traveling without purpose — trips are frequent but strategic, targeted, and expenses are fully reimbursed

Key responsibilities

Enable compliant, timely campus openings by integrating AI-driven regulatory research, construction coordination, and proactive stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the U.S. with legal authorization to work, no visa sponsorship available
  • Available to travel 60–80% of the time to cities and states nationwide
  • Proven experience using AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Perplexity) for research, planning, or correspondence
  • Strong communicator — personable over the phone, precise in writing, effective with diverse stakeholders
  • Consistent history of hitting or surpassing deadlines in high-velocity settings
  • Meticulous with details — every document, approval, and follow-up is executed correctly
  • Fast learner — rapidly absorbs unfamiliar regulatory frameworks, workflows, or technologies
  • Adept at managing multiple projects, timelines, and external partners at once

Nice to have

  • Prior work in construction-related, operations-intensive, or compliance-focused environments (including internships)
  • Educational background in public policy, business, communications, or legal fields
  • Demonstrated success tackling complex logistical challenges in professional, internship, or volunteer settings
