Vice President of Compliance Operations   $200,000 USD/year

Description

If you've taken a school, hospital, or retail site from concept to operational and wondered whether the process could be faster and more precise, this role will interest you.

2 Hour Learning is deploying the fastest school expansion model in the nation. New sites cannot open without regulatory clearance. Licenses, permits, and compliance filings must be accurate and timely. Your responsibility will be to determine requirements, coordinate submissions in sequence, and ensure approvals arrive when needed. You will leverage AI-driven tools and automation systems, but you will also engage directly with contractors, follow up by phone, and resolve edge-case issues that automation cannot address.

This position suits individuals who perform well under complexity and time pressure. You will operate within a high-velocity organization backed by substantial resources and infrastructure, where execution speed is standard and quality is mandatory. You will apply AI systems to reduce bureaucratic friction, accelerate permitting cycles, and deliver operational outcomes rather than documentation alone.

If you are prepared to convert "pending approval" into "cleared to launch," this role is designed for you.

What you will be doing

  • Aligning architects, contractors, and legal counsel to obtain all construction and educational operation permits required.
  • Managing municipal permitting and inspection workflows across multiple jurisdictions — reducing timelines and removing obstacles.
  • Compiling and filing complete approval packages: permits, applications, regulatory documents, and inspection records.
  • Tracking project progress and compliance exposure across all active sites — maintaining real-time transparency with no unexpected delays.
  • Spending approximately 75% of your time traveling to project sites to engage in-person with local authorities, inspectors, and service providers to sustain momentum.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Waiting for others to flag problems or finalize submissions — you will be accountable for the complete outcome.
  • Operating exclusively from an office — this is a field-based execution role, not a remote administrative function.
  • Applying a fixed, jurisdiction-specific template — you will design custom solutions where standard processes do not exist.
  • Treating delays as unavoidable — both speed and accuracy define success in this position.
  • Depending on outdated tools or manual spreadsheets — you are expected to implement automation and continuously improve workflows.

Key responsibilities

Obtain complete legal and operational authorization to launch schools across jurisdictions with greater speed and thoroughness than conventional permitting methods provide.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the United States and legally authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship.
  • Available and willing to travel approximately 75% of the time to U.S. cities and states.
  • 5+ years leading permitting, construction, or facilities expansion initiatives involving physical infrastructure and regulatory approval.
  • 5+ years coordinating multiple contractors per project across different jurisdictions.
  • Documented history of delivering projects ahead of deadline while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
  • Experience delivering status updates to technical teams and executive leadership.
  • Clear ownership track record — you served as the sole point of accountability for project completion and issue resolution.
  • AI-native approach — you leverage automation and rapid iteration to accelerate execution.
  • Written communication that is precise, actionable, and relied upon by senior leadership.
  • Strong regulatory judgment — you understand when to escalate, seek clarification, or challenge requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience in construction management, education operations, or multi-location retail rollout.
  • Background developing or refining AI-driven tools for permitting, compliance, or regulatory processes.
  • Prior engagement with fire marshals, building inspectors, and education regulatory agencies.
