Compliance Operations Specialist   $100,000 USD/year

Description

This role is not about paperwork — it's about launching schools.

2 Hour Learning is rebuilding how education works. Our model condenses a traditional school day into two intensive hours through AI-powered personalization, freeing students to pursue real-world skills instead of sitting in class all day. But before any learning begins, a school must open — lawfully, securely, and on schedule. That's your mission.

You won't be crafting policy or overseeing from afar. You'll be in the field (and frequently traveling), transforming a signed lease into an operational campus: investigating local permitting rules, contacting inspectors, securing approvals, coordinating with contractors, and leveraging AI to accelerate school openings by weeks. You'll collaborate directly with experienced operators and construction crews — not from an office, but at live construction sites and municipal buildings, delivering results you can personally own: "That campus opened because I made it happen."

This position is designed for a quick learner seeking more than résumé padding. You'll deliver meaningful outcomes, assume ownership from day one, and advance rapidly. If you thrive on converting disorder into task lists and phone calls into green lights, let's talk.

What you will be doing

  • Investigating local regulations and converting bureaucratic obstacles into executable plans using AI resources and authoritative sources
  • Compiling and filing accurate, comprehensive documentation — licenses, inspection requests, exemptions — and monitoring progress through approval
  • Engaging with city clerks, liaising with contractors, and ensuring construction schedules align with municipal timelines
  • Maintaining trackers and status dashboards so teams understand what's completed, what's stalled, and what's upcoming
  • Traveling 3-4 days per week to U.S. cities to drive school openings forward in person

What you will NOT be doing

  • Speculating about regulations from your desk — you'll confirm details directly from official sources
  • Waiting for direction from others — this role requires proactive ownership, not passive compliance
  • Drafting generic filler — we use AI to enhance precision, not to produce unnecessary content
  • Dwelling on high-level theory — this is operational work with firm deadlines and measurable outcomes
  • Spending excessive time in transit — travel is frequent but focused, strategic, and fully expensed

Key responsibilities

Drive compliant, punctual campus launches by integrating AI-driven research, construction coordination, and proactive stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in the U.S. and eligible to work without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Available to travel 60-80% of the time to U.S. cities and states
  • Proven experience using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Perplexity) for research, planning, or communication tasks
  • Strong communicator — personable over the phone, precise in writing, persuasive with stakeholders
  • History of consistently meeting or beating deadlines in dynamic, high-pressure settings
  • Obsessively detail-oriented — every document, approval, and follow-up is executed flawlessly
  • Rapid learner — quickly masters unfamiliar regulatory frameworks, workflows, or technologies
  • Adept at managing multiple projects, timelines, and external collaborators at once

Nice to have

  • Prior work in construction-related, operations-intensive, or compliance-focused roles (internships qualify)
  • Educational or professional background in public policy, business, communications, or legal fields
  • Track record of resolving complex logistical challenges in employment, internships, or community service
